RE:
Pineapple Juice acidity?
I just drank a glass of pineapple juice. I know that it is acidic, but is it so acidic that it is sure to cause stomach pain?

Hi Dr. Chase! No, it should not be so acidic that it is sure to cause stomach pain. I think a lot less people would drink it if that were the case! I know some folks get heartburn from it, but I can't say stomach pain is a result of pineapple acid. Hope you feel better!

Yes, it is possible. Pineapples contain enzymes that break down protein, which is what makes up our organs, skin, hair, etc. The most acidic form of pineapple or pineapple juices is raw, and cooking your pineapple actually makes it less acidic. So just be careful when you consume raw forms of pineapple!

Quite possible. There's this one drink I like to order at this Mexican juice bar that takes pineapple juice -- it's sort of like a virgin pina colada, you can say. But without fail, I've noticed that it gives me a sore throat for a day. And yet - I still go back and order it just because it tastes so darn good! lol

all fruit juices when cooked or heated becomes acidic. It should be alkaline in its natural state. thus serves as anti oxidant. Best is have yourself press the natural fruits or buy those frozen juices.

Not to most people. Personally, I get a canker sore in my mouth or on my tongue. If your stomach feels badly, take a maalox or gaviscon or tagamet.
