when I just called in to say hello on my way home form the gym... but stayed all night drinking and eating their really nice marinated steak and salad... should I drive home or catch a cab?
How would I ever thank them enough for their hospitality?

It depends on your body size, the number of glasses of wine and the time over which you drank the wine. Your body will metabolize about 1 oz of alcohol per hour or about one normal size glass of wine per hour. So if you drink four glasses of wine over four hours, you are okay to drive. If you drink four glasses of wine over one or one and a half hours, you need to call a cab.
Obviously your friends like wine. Buy them a nice bottle of wine as a gift.

if you came in your car id drive. Thank them but don't over praise, every body loves honest heart filled praise it makes us feel better, but doing it too much or in a wrong way makes them feel like your up to something... Let them have the 4th bottle of wine, be courteous you will never go wrong.
