Okay, so, everyone says they want world peace. We do not have it because of religion. I am not bashing religion. Kay? But every fight in the history of man kind has been because someone heard something a different way.

and wouldn't rather whatever supernatural being out there want to see his or her creation living in peace rather than slaughtering each other?

and John Lennon's. This is basiclly coming straight from his mouth. :]

People are to stubborn and need to get over each other and realize that everyone won't be just like them.

it's not because of religion, it's because of human nature. people will always believe different things because everybody's circumstances are different, and since some groups have more power than others (eg. more money, stronger, faster, etc.) they will use it to advantage themselves and push their beliefs onto others. this is true for religion as well as for politics in general. the only way you could truly achieve world peace is by giving everyone the same exact opportunities to do this, and of course that isn't going to happen.

I like your question but I think people or governments fight and kill for thier own agendas and use religion as an excuse
like bin ladin uses islam for an excuse to hate america but in fact its really about control america wants to control the middle east and they don't want to be controlled so they use religion to get the people to do what they want God or Allah
is just an excuse and yes in both teachings the top ten from God says thou shalt not kill wouldn't it be nice if both religions would practice what they tell us God commanded

I agree with the spirit of what you're saying, but I don't think the statement is correct. Religion is a major source of conflict, and often used to justify violence, but it is not the cause of all warfare. People would still fight over land, resources, political ideals, etc.

The only way peace will come is when the fear of Yah is returned, and they return to Torah values. Regardless of whether you believe in Yah or not, the rules in Torah teach people how to INTERACT with each other in fairness, righteousness, and truth. There is no peace because people are SELF-CENTERED, and want whatever they can get their hands on(coveting).
Being content in your wages and your lot in life brings peace. 'Love your neighbor as yourself' carries a LOT of weight in the peace dept.

I think you're stretching here. While I think that the world would have less conflict without religion, I don't think that a world full of atheists would lead to world peace.

A lot of "religious" conflicts are secular conflicts that use religious reasons as an excuse and a rallying point. Those same people would simply find another excuse.

so true. But I personally don't think its common people like us who wage war. Remember most of the wars have been waged in the name of religion, but they also had other motives. They used religion, but people in power wanted to get financial gain out of it too.
You don't even have to go too far back in the history. Look what USA and Britain has done to middle east. Both have been after their oil for decades and caused war between political parties over there. Saddam was there our friend as long as he was agreeing with us. We were happy with oil. But as soon as he stopped giving us oil, we bashed him.

There will be no peace until the the Prince of Peace returns. He is coming back soon. Every head shall bow, every knee shall bend, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. It is not a matter of if, only when. Do it now and reap everlasting heaven, do it when he returns and reap everlasting hell. Its a no brainer come to Christ.

It isn't religion itself, just the intolerance it can breed. People refuse to see past their stubborn noses sometimes.

Why can't we all be friends? D:
