I ask this because in 2 Samuel 24:1 it says "And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah." But in 1 Chronicles 21:1, when the same events are being described again, it says, "And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel." Please read both chapters in context before answering, mkay?

'satan' is not really a name. It means ADVERSARY. If you look in Numbers 22:22, the angel that stood as an adversary to Balaam...the word 'adversary' in hebrew is 'SATAN'. That is where we get the word.
The verses you give simply bring clarity to the way the Father works. Once you understand this 'adversarial' position, then something else will become clear...
2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
2Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
2Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Because the 'church' has strayed from His WORD, they have become an ADVERSARY to God. That is why Yahshua said 'satan comes as an ANGEL OF LIGHT'.
The spirit that comes as satan would like you to THINK that it is gOD, but it isn't. Read Isaiah 14.

In the old testament, God took the blame for many of the things that satan instigated. The reason for this is that man in that time period was unable to understand that there was an opposite to God, and also until after Jesus Christ, man did not have Gods power inside to resist satan, only Gods prophets had that power conditionally.

David's census brought disaster because, unlike the census taken in the book of Numbers Numbers 1,2. Which God had ordered, this census was taken so David could take pride in the strength of his army. In determining his military strength, he was beginning to trust more in military power than in God. There is a thin line between feeling confident because you rely on God's power and becoming proud because you have been used by God for great purposes.

No. God is the Creator of all living things. Satan was created as Lucifer an archangel & Servant of God. He became Satan when the sin of pride set in and he wanted to be God. Satan & 1/3 of Gods angels rebelled against God and were thrown out of the 3rd Heaven where God resides.
God was angry with David because of his pride. David was counting on his large nation & army to occupy the promise land, instead of Relying,& trusting on God to bring them to the promised land.
(God "ALLOWED" or gave Satan permission to tempt David to take a census out of his sinful pride.

devil improve into limited by employing God as to the quantity of carnage he ought to do to job. the explanation eternal damnation isn't a factor of Judaism is for the reason that's a pagan doctrine that has that is root interior the perception in an immortal soul. It improve into accompanied by employing the early Christian church around the time of Constantine. Neither perception has a actual biblical foundation in spite of the reality that many will take an obtrusive parable in Luke and a few allegorical verses from Revelation in an attempt to furnish it legitimacy. there are thousands of Christians who've rejected this doctrine as being pagan in foundation and having no longer something in simple with biblical coaching. edit: by employing eternal damnation, i'm touching on the perception in eternal torment of the depraved. I have read it many times...the latter is God moved satan to provoke David.
(Hebrew rendering)
Remember one key thing when reading the Bible...we are reading a TRANSLATION of the Hebrew or Grek rendering.
