"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Heb. 4:12
Anything that we read must be processed through the filter of the work of God. If it doesn't match it is out the window. I cannot tell you anything about this book in particular but I heartily encourage you to read because even if this book is not a faithful work that will help you draw closer to God it can benefit you if you see the folly in it and learn from that.
One safety measure that you can use is to read the book with a trusted believer and friend and discuss what you are reading.
God bless

I saw the movie which portrays the "law of attraction." Have you ever heard of mind over matter? Have you ever read "The Amazing Results of Positive Thinking" by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale?
In the Bible God says to call something that IS NOT as if IT IS.
Instead of wasting your time with these books, get you a Strong's Concordance and look up "faith" in the Bible every place that you can find it. The Concordance will tell you where every "faith" word is in the Bible.
Without the Lord it is impossible to achieve what "The Secret" attempts to promise. God tells us that without faith it is impossible to please Him. And He tells us with faith the size of a mustard seed we can move mountains.
Jeremiah 33:3 The Lord says, "Call on Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee (you) great and mighty things."
There is no doubt that seeking the Lord will all of our heart for something on a daily basis, He will eventually give it to us. I've experienced this.
Now, if greed be the interior motive, no prosperity will come from God. The devil can operate in this for a short while before he devours the person who invites the evil within.
Without God, what "The Secret" promises will not come true for your benefit and edification. The Lord works everything together for our good and that is the only way we want it.
May the Lord Bless You!!

In Christian love....
The secret is a perspective on a theme. There is so much in the Bible that talks about the inward spiritual condition being connected to the outward reality.
As above so below. As within so with out.
As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.
It is not what goes in the mouth that defiles a man, but what comes out of the mouth.
The kingdom lies within.
Hark! The kingdom is at hand.
We all are joint heirs with Christ.
Read it ... watch the movie.
Take the good from it...
I have some writing that kinda talks about the same thing but has scripture to support the cognats.
I will be happy to share it with you... via e-mail
Blessings and peace to all,
all in all,
b

It's sad how you think you can be so easily led astray simply by reading something. Shouldn't your faith be able to withstand questioning, or whatever else may be in that book?
You sound like a perfect little Christian: only look at things from the approved point of view without considering any others and everybody should believe the exact same thing.

This is not an anti Christian book, it more about yourself, your self worth. I've taken out of it what is comfortable for me, and I enjoyed the book. Knowledge is always self powering, weather you believe a certain way or not. The more you learn
the better one can make a decision or an opinion or whatever. So read the book and make your own conclusions.
Nothing can lead you astray, if you truly believe.

Well I have heard about a few new books like the book of Judas and stuff like that. I would compare it's remarks first to the normal Bible to try to disecrn if it's truly the word of God. Also ask God to guide you in the way that will lead you to his wisdom. After all the Holy spirit is the author of all the books so aks God for the wisdom to disern if truly the word of God and compare it to the principles you know is truth with the normal Bible.

Couldn't tell you if it is good christian reading or not, but that book/DVD (The Secret) is a waste of time and money.
I'll give you the gist, wish really really hard for something and you will draw it into your life. It is materialism, greed, and stupidity all rolled into a glitzy package to make the author rich.
It isn't spiritual, it isn't really, and it could lead to a "blame the victim" mentality.

Well it seems to me that "the Secret" doesn't fit well with christianity because it teaches that YOU create your own reality and YOU are master of your destiny while christianity would have you give your life over to Jesus and let god take the reigns...
It can't hurt to just read it..you don't have to believe or follow what it says...it may open your mind to possibilities never imagined
but I do think its possible to be a christian and still practice "the secret" :)

I am an atheist. However, I would like to answer your question.
I don't think it is a bad idea to read as much as you can from different sources. The books are only words and ideas. You should use your critical thinking to determine if these words and ideas make sense or not. I would never allow someone else to tell me what to read or what not to read.
Independence of free thought needs to be exercised otherwise you will lose it.

All it really is is just believing in yourself. The theory is that if you say something will happen (for example, you go to a job interview and say to yourself that you WILL get the job) it will happen (then you'll get the job)
It's actually pretty dumb... there isn't any secret.
