I have 12 years of retail experience and then took 4 years off. I was wanting to get into a new area and went to work at a local grocery store (which is union) and like it but I am concerned about the livability of the job. I am relocating in a year and wonder if I should go back to retail and retail management instead of grocery. What would you recommend?

Do what you want to do. With 12 years of retail, you could hop back into it with little or no problem.

Best of luck.

If you want to compare career paths and salaries, there's a tool online where you can type in a job title, see the career path for that job and the salaries for related job titles. It is at http://www.payscale.com/gigzig.aspx Here's what I got when I typed in Retail Store Manager: http://www.payscale.com/gigzig.aspx#/US///Retail+Store+Manager

Hope that helps,

management would be better than grocery IMO. especially if you are moving in a year.
