(James 5:16) And yes....I see that the rest of the verse says..."that ye may be healed." Would like to know your thoughts on how this actually works. Examples would be WAY helpful!

It's actually very humbling.....(the whole confessing your faults thing) It helps the body of believers grow strong.

And when you confess your faults to one another...that's not the thing that heals you...you're right...he was saying pray for one another that ye may be healed. Not the confessing your sins to people. You don't have to go in extra detail...but imagine if the whole body of Christ was walking around with this heir of "Self- Righteousness" because their Pride would always forbid them to "admit" that they were going through something because they don't want to share with people their personal business....and yet? You don't have to go into maor detail..like I said. But it's encouraged to do because in that, you can help someone else without even realizing it with your own testimony. That's always comforting for a person when they see that someone else has gone through the same thing yet overcome it. That's what it means when it says...the strong bear the weak...and the wise bear the strong...(or rule- just quoting from memory here)
Yet overall...none of us can make it on our own...and it's not meant for us too. All of us together are one body.
we are encouraged to stand together. To bear all things together...to pray for one another to share our sufferings with one another. Because he is promoting unity in the body of Christ. Just as it has been said for us to not 'Forsake the assembly of believers" and even still, To "Love the Brotherhood of believers...."
There's total humility in that.

There's a scripture in Proverbs that says :"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another..." (Proverbs 27:17)

Now that's all about love. And that's how it works.

I love you in Christ

Have a good one

Why do that? Simply because Jesus did it and no one has ever treated us the way that they treated Jesus. Right? So, if Jesus prayed "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." We need to see people through Christs' eyes. It definitly isn't easy sometimes because we're in the flesh which has a "Sin Nature" that wants to strike back or get even. But we need to know that we can be Christ like and forgive when we realize that Jesus loves that person so much that no matter what that person has done , He does not want that person to be lost. That's why He offers forgiveness and so should we. The verse reads,"Confess YOUR faults one to another", Look at it this way, if you are the one at fault, (Think of the worst thing that you could possibly do to someone) and you confessed your fault to that person and meant it from your heart, Wouldn't you want forgiveness?

Every since the sin of Adam & Eve
Actually the World has been turned upside down. meaning we are living in the world system until we confess Christ and get saved this is a great big situation the world faces. And the scripture say, Behold He stand at the door and knock let him come in and sup with you , learn of me my yoke is easy my burden is light. we are taught to care for one another pray for one another caring, communing with one another releases the the heaviness. Then we confirm the word who the Son sets free is free indeed, Trying to walk upright we can not be carrying excess baggage we have to be free to serve and do the Lords will. Which is meeting, ministering to new converts. It Is an honor and a privelege lifting up Gods children to him and watching his glory manifest.

Yes it is painful, but there aren't too many treatments to ailments that aren't in some way painful. The fact is if we do it we will be healed. I know that over this last summer I had to come to terms with myself where I was at with the Lord. I didn't like what I saw. Thankfully God put people in my path that I could talk to and tell them where I was struggling. This helped because I had someone I could be accountable to, and then helped to pick up the pieces of my life. Thankfully they cared enough to say exactly what needed to be said when it needed to said, even if they didn't know it at the time. So it does help to have someone to tell whats on your heart. Hope it helps, God Bless Beth

it is painful, embarrassing, humbling to confess our faults to one another- confession, though, is the first step to deliverance and healing. Without confession it is so much easier to justify and continue indulging in our sin- it is so easy to go back to it. When we confess, we make ourselves accountable - we show that we recognize our sin and do not want to be weak in that area any more- it is humbling and keeps us from becoming proud in our sin.
On the same token, through confession, we can see that we are not the only ones struggling, we can find someone who will give us encouragement and prayer, that will stand in the gap for us and see us through to healing.

Because the only way that satan has power over the things that we struggle with in life, is if they stay hidden in the dark, once you open up and bring it to the light, the mess is exposed and together sisters and brothers in Christ can pray for one another and the person can be healed and delivered. That is what God really wants for us, to be free and come out of bondage.

Painful only for pride perhaps, and maybe also for having to remember memories that cause self guilt.

I am a sinner, I have hurt people, and I have known deep down that what I have done wrong AND was known by me to be wrong, yet because I had failed to exert control over my thoughts, I did the wrong things anyway.

If one can't admit to being a sinner, one cannot seek help for one's self, one cannot admit to one'self that one needs help to be better. By avoiding confessing to one's self, one avoids facing the truth.

By confessing to one another, one can know the experience of others and that can help one reflect upon one's self.

The idea is not to confess to some random person, but to the person (or people) you have wronged. We do it out of obedience and to gain forgiveness and freedom from the guilt associated with the sin. And yes, it does work.

great ? Beth...God bless you!
I'm very careful as too who i confess too
and would hope they are God's people and truly go to Him and not others to pray about my business
sometimes we are in such need of great Godly counsel and if we are carrying a load God's people when we go too them in confidence should lay our heaviness on Him. Somethings are just to much for us and it's a relief to let go.
Should be Jesus in them who heals us just by being there and letting us share for prayer with them.
My understanding of how the Kingdom of God is to function<><

I go to confession about once a month and yes it may be painful or embarrassing , but God already knows what you have done, you just need His forgiveness.
