So I was watching the movie "Pretty Woman" and I'm wondering how Julia managed to use his credit card and go shopping. I mean , don't you have to be an authorized user on the persons account for them to even accept someone else's credit card. What if he were to deny the transactions; wouldn't she have gotten in big trouble?

only the person on the acount is authorized to use the card.
no one should use someone elses to make purchases as they will ask for a signiture when you go into a store. denying the transactions could be done and aninvestigation would start. the fault would start with the retail store as they should have checked credentials, then go to the card holder then try to find the user.

Most merchants don't ask for ID and will take the card even if it's obvious that the name on the card isn't the person standing there.

If he'd disputed the charges, they would have been removed from his card but the stores wouldn't have been able to find her.

this movie was amde like 15 years ago when credit card fraud and identity theft werent even a major thing. Secondly, the store where se was shopping was very familiar with Richard Gere's character and they knew him quite well, so her using his credit card probably wasnt te problem. they probably called him or his office anyway to verify. And yes if he would of denied it, she woulda been up shyts creek.
