Hello there. Earlier one of my cats was found eaten alive. She was ripped in half, from her armpits down. Everything was consumed below that point, her spine and lower feet were picked to the bone, and there was no fur. I live in a residential area, with some farming. She was found near a creak, where there is alot of grass. Any ideas on what ate her?

Hello john, i'm so sorry for your loss mate, thats really sad. I know its hard but try not to think of the ending, go back to the beginning and stay there! I was going to type probable possibilities but is there any point? She's gone and all the answers in the world won't make you feel any better except this one ---- it would have been very quick and the shock of it would have made it painless. Stop trying to find out why or what, concentrate on you, and how you'll remember her. God bless x

So sorry for your loss. When a mammal gets its prey, there is usually some fur and hide torn off. I lost a cat just a year ago today; I found him gutted to the ribcage. Showing the pictures to a neighbor, she was sure it was a bird of prey: an owl or a very large hawk. The edges of the wound were not torn, but looked as tho it were cut by a razor. If you have the stomach for it, I can send a picture of his body. Bammy died on 10-13-06. I really think your kitty may have been killed by a bird of prey, especailly since it was picked to the bone. You have my deepest sympathies.

Coyotes would do that to a cat. You may have Coyotes in the area you live in.
Where I live the Coyotes live not far where I live and they come down and get the dogs and cats in the back yards and they jump a 6 foot fence.

I would say I coyote. Even though u live in a residential area, they come around. I lived in a residenitial area, and I used to have them jump my 4 foot brick wall, and fight my dog. That would be my bet, is that a coyote got ahold of her.
And I'm so sorry for your loss.

Sounds like a coyote, it's totally natural for your cat to be prey to a coyote. Maybe even an owl. As much as I hated it, my granpa lived in an area like that and one of his dogs would hunt cats as well. I think judging by where you found it it was probably a coyote or dog.

Most likely a coyote got her. Coyotes prey on domesticated pets and frequently live near farming communities. They harass cattle too.

Maybe a coyote. I'm probably really far away from you, but the coyotes are repopulating again. They found a dead deer on my school grounds that was probably killed by a coyote, and I live in NJ.

My friend lives in an area just like that and sometimes there are coyotes. I'm really sorry about what happened, sounds terrible.

Some dogs like to eat cats (and they aren't always feral). Or coyotes like a little kitty for lunch (they will even eat small dogs). Best to keep kitty inside to avoid this.

Coyote or feral dog. Raccoons don't do that where the remains look like that, and possums go more for vegetation than meat.
