Mine should be arriving in the mail any day now. I ordered it from Amazon. I've only heard good things about it.
I should be going to town to check my mail on Monday. If your question is still up when I get my Bible, I'll edit with my thoughts.
Edit: I was right, I got it today. I looked it over, and read some of the articles (it has a LOT), and I think it's going to be a good buy. Some pretty big names contributed to it: Ravi Zacharias, Chuck Colson, Josh McDowell, Lee Strobel, Norman Geisler (one of my favorite apologetics)...
The only thing is, it's pretty obvious which denominations they're against: JW, Mormon, and to an extent, Catholic. I don't think that's right, but most of the bias takes a backseat to the rest of it.
I like the translation, and it has all kinds of cool little tidbits. I read the first couple chapters in Genesis, and I liked what I saw. It also didn't take sides on "young earth" or "old earth" creationism, which I really appreciate. It presented both sides in an article, and then summarized it by saying that both parties have decent amounts of evidence. This is true.
Jesus' words aren't in red, which is pretty unusual. Not sure whether I like that or not.
It's going to take me YEARS to go over this Bible...but I think I found my new favorite. It's as easy to read as the Message, but I think it stays truer to the original. They used the oldest sources available for translation. And I'm DEFINITELY going to love the articles.
May I recommend that you go to www.amazon.com, and search for this Bible there? They had a couple reviews last I checked.
I would highly recommend this Bible for anyone who is interested in apologetics, theology, history, and/or archaeology.
My first impression is that it's like all my favorite apologetics books wrapped up into one volume.
