And would I, as a 6 foot 2 inch 270 pound American die of heatstroke within minutes of getting there if I were to join the Singapore army (or do they take it easy on the easily-overheated foreigners)? I don't know why, but I've always been intersted in the Singapore Army...

Lots of exercises, running, drills and military operations but drink a lot of water to avoid fatigue or heatstroke.

Singapore Army? Son, c'mon.... In my experience, Basic is longer (3 months vs. 2 in Army, AF, Navy), hotter, tougher, and more regimented in the USMC. If you want an easy Bootcamp, go USAF; if it's too hot outside, the raise a "red flag" and all the recruits go back into their airconditioned barracks....
