They're far too frightened to think or question or to risk the ire of their invisible sky thing.
They believe he watches everything they say, think and do, 24/7, and they have to suck up to him or he'll send them to hell.
They won't risk that even though in their heart of hearts they know that invisible sky things are imaginary BUT their fear over-rides their 'intellect'.
Pascal's Wager - what if they're wrong.
On the one hand I pity them but on the other hand, if they don't want to use their ‘god-given’ brain and question things, why should I?

i don't think of that's unavoidably "brainwashing." mothers and dads practice their babies the religion they have been taught, yet all of us make the alternative as to which faith or lack thereof, we sense maximum gentle with. If it does not sense suitable, then we hit upon different recommendations. easily everyone seems to be given this opportunity, however the only reason many human beings decide for to easily have faith in what their families have faith is as a results of fact they're the two lazy or petrified of the implications. human beings want something to have faith in, for the main area, and believing what each physique else believes looks the least complicated selection. besides, there are such multiple those that declare "christianity" yet do not shop on with the religion very heavily that it truly is an exceptionally loose faith in at the instant's society. As for the insanely religious bible-thumpers, nicely, they're vulnerable minded and afraid to be themselves. perhaps they're brainwashed, yet in basic terms by potential of their very own fears and inhibitions.

Are you referring to being brainwashed as a person (people) that are indoctrinated with specific beliefs through repeated instruction? Or are you meaning closed minded, because evolutionists and other non-Christians are different in their beliefs, HOW?
If you are a __?__, you believe in __?__, therefore you will defend __?__. If you didn't believe you were correct and yet defend it, you are... probably bored.

If live to see the day where we "Christians" aren't stereotyped I think I would have a heart attack.
That's like saying.... You atheist, why cant you think for your self's, your just brainwashed into thinking their is no god. (is this statement true.. no of course not, most atheist have a personal reason why they don't believe in God and Most atheist came to that conclusion by them selves.
and Guess what Christians are no more brainwashed then you are.... I came to believe in Christ on my own. By my own thinking. No one made me believe. No one brainwashed me into believing, no one held a gun to my head and forced me to believe. i believe because I choose to. Not because I've been brainwashed.
Good-day.

Some people can certainly think but you cannot fight the spiritual belief if strongly held. It is inherent in human nature. Certainly there is brainwashing. It is a way of controlling the population.

I am assured that many Christians are not spiritually mature and practice only what they have been preached. Their beliefs are founded on the basic principles of Christianity (Hope, Faith, and Love)
Those who are spiritually mature have usually read the Bible often, ask God not man for the interpretation, and listen only to the words of the Spirit.

I think that the ignorant fundies are incapable of independent thought.
I know of several wonderful and intelligent Christians, including my best friend. Many of them are on here as well.

No, I think most Christians are immersed in a deep role play game and they enjoy it very much because they can't think of anything more creative themselves.

Minds are like motors. One side shuts down (the logic, left one) if you program a child with threat of permanent horrid pain (hell) if they ever thinking differently than you are told about the divine. It's like a flashback. That fear riles up when logic is presented to them in the future and controls their thoughts. Tis sad.
