I ma from the UK and I have been reffered by my doctor to general medicine at my local hospital to investigate various unexplained symptoms I was wondering what can i expect to happen at this appointment? can they run tests such as scans ? like if i said i get strange headaches will i get an mri scan there and then? or will it just be like a visit to a doctor and a general chat and pyshical?

This is like being an internist. They do a work up and order tests and depending on the results refer to a specialist. They handle most day to day general routine complaints from patients, do physicals etc. They are what is called a general practitioner.
