I know some religions feel that way. I had a friend who remained a virgin until she got married, but experimented with everything else, and she believed that it was a sin. She would say " Better to marry, than to burn." I didn't quite understand how the other stuff fits into that equation!

Not really. Some do, but you're married and have had sex, and then got divorced for some reason you can have sex as I believe. But you can't get married for 7 years after the divorce under Catholic law

My mom got a divorce. Why? Because my freaking dad abused her every day.
