Your question answers itself IF the God to whom you refer is the mundane anthropomorphized Christian (fundamentalist) God. This "God" is above reproach IN THE LIMITED MINDS of His/Her/Its followers, and to these minds this God is capable of ANYTHING, even the resolution of paradoxes, of impossibilities, or of nonsense (though to have "nonsense" its polarity,"sense," must be implied, and I'm not sure mindless lemmings engage in "sense"). On the other hand, if the God of which you speak is a limitless unified field of eternal bliss and the Source from which all is manifested, then every possibility exists in this field of Being.
To be a bit more rigorous, if thinking in a linear fashion, the unliftable rock would be created first. Then God would overcome this limitation, and lo and behold, lift that darn thing. Sweet and simple. If we consider, however, that all things exist at once, then both possibilities are happening at one and the same time, canceling each other out and leaving that blissful silence of infinite harmony where the ABSOLUTE REALITY prevails. God followers envision a more powerful version of themselves, thinking from limited minds that their God is created in their image (like themselves). Others who reach for higher consciousness link into an all-pervasive field of perfect harmony and find union with the ONE of which we are all a part (or in the case of duality/polarity, apart, or separated). I, myself, have not arrived, but I am Sirius.

Yeshua said man could move mountains. What more of God? I understand this is a philosophical question about omnipotent logic, but imo it is operating from a point of view or perspective of a God that is widely based on literalism from the main religions. In truth God doesn't create anything anymore, God is in rest - b-e-i-n-g - Harmony and is in all things and all things is within God. God set the "Laws" which would bring the alpha of ignorance to the omega of completion. These laws take precedence over anything, these laws move things, structure things and is the harmony that "God" at least this level achieved. And these "physical" laws are only an holographic pattern of even greater laws.
Perhaps these greater laws are God's balance? Perhaps even the rock has or represents an aspect of consciousness? Perhaps even a rock isn't essentially a rock, but mostly empty, an aspect of an ether of consciousness? Perhaps there is no difference from the heavy to the light besides what it represents in size within the mind?
But to answer the question from the position that it was posed. Yes that would be a God that is self limiting, he wouldn't create a rock greater then himself but if he can't then he isn't omnipotent. Truth be told perhaps he is the rock, if the rock was created, it would be an aspect of mind, a vibration of thought in consciousness.

To added what Kimpossibrr become asserting with regard to the belief of a rock, we get returned to Plato's theory of varieties. i will exhibit by ability of asking yet another question (nonetheless a lots sillier one) like "Can God create a cat wth wings?" The organic state of a cat is to be with out wings (for sure). If a cat had wings, it does no longer nevertheless be a cat, yet yet another creature thoroughly. as a result, no, God would desire to no longer create a cat with wings because of the fact it might no longer be a cat while it become created. as a result, if we glance at what the form of a rock would be, it rather is obvious that interior a similar logical way, God would desire to no longer create a rock so great he could no longer life it or it might no longer be a rock. the least complicated thank you to think of it by using is that God positioned particular rules into consequence upon the creation of the universe. issues alongside with physics. And mutually as he can interject something strange interior those rules that does no longer certainly take place, he would additionally no longer injury the guidelines he himself positioned into life. Breaking such rules would be contradictory to his very nature, in basic terms as Kimpossibrr reported that mendacity would be. C.S. Lewis' e book "Miracles" is going into this very topic and study the techniques of organic regulation and miracles and the relation thereof in an exceptionally in intensity scholarly way. i'd quite reccommend it.

I've heard this before their is not a problem with the answer to this question, but their is a problem with the question.
God is logical he isn't stupid, and it would be stupid for him to create a rock that he couldn't';t lift and it wouldn't be logical. I'm not saying if God could or couldn't but he wouldn't. Plain and simple.
Your question is simply flawed and not logical.

That question would only be asked by a person who already does not believe in God.
God has power over all intellectual possibilities. Since the existence of something out of God's Power contradicts Godhood and is not an intellectual possibility, then the question is invalid.

Yes, of course.
(Matthew 19:26) Jesus said to them: “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Of course, once the rock was created, Jehovah could become powerful enough to lift it.
(Job 23:13) Who can resist him? And his own soul has a desire, and he will do it.
(Exodus 3:14) At this God said to Moses: “I SHALL PROVE TO BE WHAT I SHALL PROVE TO BE.”

To apply a paradox to god is simply to state a paradox; it doesn't say anything about deity. It makes no more sense than saying "Can god hide something so well that he can't find it" or "can god make a light so blinding that he couldn't see". It is simply taking a nonsense question and applying it to God. It only shows that man can make nonsense.
