Apologies on miss-spelling Atheist - and anything else.

Well thank you for your honesty, (except for Bob who is just rude, and Wild Man who I don't understand at all) to the rest of you it's been interesing, I find it fascinating to find out what people think and why they think it.

There is no way I can choose best answer out of all the good answers so this one goes to the vote.

(So how do you end a note to an Atheist? normal I say God Bless but that won't do at all...)

In the words of the great Douglas Adams...

'So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish '

Few Christians here are willing or able to debate. They've made their decision.

Case in point : an enormous amount of Christians here will ask atheists a question about the Bible, God, Christianity, etc. They'll get, let's say, 30 responses, and 29 of them can be from atheists. Guess which they choose as Best Answer? You got it : the one response from a Christian.

The faith of most Christians is so remarkably weak, that they require CONSTANT validation of what they believe. Atheists don't.

I suppose I come here because I like giving my opinion. Sometimes I suppose I do mock believers and perhaps other times I am rude. However, I like to think that I only do either if the question is particularly irritating or stupid.

Having said that, they may be occasions when I have been unfairly rude.

I don't think you can say there is much debate here. With, mostly, a one-shot answer there cannot be a back and forth discussion. In any event, both sides are entrenched and I doubt that many people are going to be swayed by what is said here. Generally speaking, the believers are not as sophisticated as they like to think they are and tend to lose hands down.

easily, i'm an atheist and that i think of Jesus sounds like a marvelous guy. somebody i would not ideas being friends with (if he weren't all against atheists, I advise). I only don't have faith he replaced into the son of God, because of the fact i've got faith there is not any God. I additionally agree that all and sundry faiths have a suited in this international. surprisingly if those faiths sell tolerance and information and love (like maximum do). yet i don't think of they have a suited to pry into my existence and ideology and then attempt their toughest to alter me. for my area, i don't have faith i could be prayed for, as i extremely am a miles better than happy individual; i unquestionably want the thought that existence isn't a try...and that i've got not any choose nor want for "eternal existence". I additionally do not in common terms like the belief of particularly some sturdy human beings probably going to hell for some thing trivial. I do get excitement from the sentiment, besides the indisputable fact that.

Honestly ?

There are ignoramuses on both sides of the argument. I am here to:
1) Learn something.
2) Mock the ignorant.
3) And Generally have a good time and make friends.

You cheeky git how dare you ask such a question. See you religious lot think you have the right to ask all manner of personal questions and just by offering a token "sorry" you think it makes it alright. Jesus was a black woman but she still had a white beard and because of that you all feel sorry for her and some sort of obligation to believe everything she wrote in that story book of hers. And you follow her blindly without any regard for the truth. Just barging your way through life upsetting and saying whatever you like to us poor old atheists. You should all develope some sensitivity and stop declaring war on them poor muslim people, them one's what wear the funny halloween masks.

I come here for honest debate, but like the christians, I am here to teach the Atheist philosophy to the blind, for through their religion they are blinded to the truth. I teach facts that will hopefully generate enough response for them to question the bible. I do not dis' God, well most of the time, for I feel that if people need to have a God in thier lives, they are entitled to that. What I am mostly trying to teach, is that the bible and the church are not the word of God, they are the works of man, thus if they do believe in AGod, then they are not following his word, they are following the corruption of the church

I'm an atheist (spell-checker, please), and I do not mock. I disagree, but I do not mock. But I wouldn't even say I'm here for honest debate, because that's not really what I feel this is about. It's question and answer, whereas debate is more like a forum or bulletin board, where you have a long string of back and forth. I don't expect to "convert" anyone, but I do like making people think. If their faith is so shaky they can't handle thinking about something a person who disagrees might say, they probably need to re-examine their faith anyway.

I figure we can say anything we want, so long as we say it politely.

I think its a bit of both.

Most of the christians can't give a decent debate in all honesty. So the next natural step is to mock them for their stupidity, lack of knowledge and logic.

I admit it, I do mock, but mostly I come to see what other people make of the bizarre nonsense that is religion. I know some believers thnk it unfair to mock, but I'm afraid they bring it upon themselves. The seheer illogicality of what some people write and think is astounding, and of course funny.

I don't mind 'honest debate' but this isn't a debating site and it's why it's called Y!A.

I come here to learn and pass on my knowledge but usually I get side-tracked by the fundie comedy, almost unbelievable ignorance and consistent irony.

It's cheaper than cable.
