Is it normal to feel nauseous and faint when you feel certain pains or see certain things?? When I got my belly pierced, I felt like fainting and I got super pale. This lasted for almost 5 minutes. Same thing happened when I got a tetanus shot. It also happened when I saw the doctor draining fluid from my son's spine. Is this normal?? Is this what you call a "weak stomach"?

it's not really something that is normal but it does happen, so it isn't all that unusual either. Did you eat before you got your piercing? Because it's quite common for people who don't eat a full meal before getting pierced or tattooed to become dizzy or lightheaded during or after the process. Which is why many people recommend eating before and taking some candy or gum with you to eat so your blood sugar doesn't get too low. Of course being very excited or nervous can make fainting or becoming dizzy more likely too because often people forget to breathe properly while being pierced. It isn't something to be too worried about though, just try to settle down some and go get yourself some water and a bite to eat.

You're having syncope! "Syncope", or fainting, is simply temporary loss of consciousness due to a sudden decline in blood flow to the brain.

Actually, you're having "vasovagal syncope". This is the most common type of fainting, and is most commonly triggered by pain, fright, or the sight of blood. Yes, it's often accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

Read about vasovagal syncope at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vasovagal-syncope/DS00806 and http://heartdisease.about.com/cs/arrhythmias/a/Syncope2_2.htm

Since you already know you're a "fainter", as medical people call them, be sure you're lying down or sitting down when you're about to be exposed to something noxious like the situations you mention. Also tell the healthcare providers you're a fainter. They appreciate knowing this before you hit the floor, not after. They'll have you lie down and they'll have an ammonia capsule handy in case you do faint.
