Let me guess. The fundamentalists will determine who a true Christian is.

HONESTLY??? I do not know the answer to that question--but i do know that there are a lot of people who use the word "CHRISTIAN" TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES--AND THEY USE THE WORD LOOSLEY.
some men know that certain women will find it a very attractive thing about them if they say "hello, Iam a Christian"
some men use candy--some use liquor--some men say what a woman wants to hear. i now run the opposite direction, screaming, with my arms in the air, in total horrifacation, when a man introduces himself this way.
a lesson i had to learn the hard way.
one must not be impressed by the beauty,or age, of the tree--one must first taste the fruit of that tree to know for sure---if the tree is indeed a GOOD one.
lots of pretty flowery trees have terrible, bitter, sour tasting fruit.----anyone can say they believe anything--even our current president says he is a born again Christian--they can attend church every Sunday--take Communion--carry their Bibles with them every place they go--they can quote scripture at you ( until you want to scream)--and they can still miss the whole point of it all.
and maybe there are more of the fakes then the real--i would guess that this is the true answer. but in life i have learned --
1) never guess
2) never assume
3) never use common sense when trying to figure out any body.
look for fruit--if it is there--taste it.
your answer lies in the taste of the fruit--no matter what the fruit or the tree looks like.
did i help? hope so.
sign me,

Unless you believe 90% of America is actual Christian then I'd say yes. It happens to whatever is the most popular. If atheism were on top there'd be plenty of pseudo-Athiests. But nobody pretends believes in a minority view just for the hell of it.

How can we know? Many people do not show their true feelings, let alone what they really believe. In fact, back when I was nominally a Christian, I really did try to do this thing they call "faith." So would you count someone who is trying to believe, or only someone who is willing to claim they do believe? If only the latter, how do you know whether they "really" believe or really believe that they are supposed to believe, or maybe don't even know what a real belief feels like. After you are brought up reciting the creed in the back of the hymnal every Sunday because that's what your mother wants you to do, and because people would notice if you didn't, you may not know what being a "real" Christian feels like.
It's very confusing stuff. I suggest you assume that anyone who calls himself a Christian is real enough. That's called respect.

Oh yes! Most Christians in the modern world believe in variations of traditional Christianity

'Pseudo-Christians' would be people who acted as though they're Christians, but aren't.
Probably almost none of those, same as there are almost no Christians.
The stands and field are empty, but the parking lot is full of folk who'd like to go inside but aren't willing to pay the price by acting like Christians or pseudo-Christians.

who is to decide?
if someone declares that he/she is a member of some christian denomination, one must take them at their word and not judge.
so i wouldnt say that there are any pseudo christians... unless they were forced to convert, which is not done anymore.

Absolutely. I run into people all the time who tell me they really don't believe any of that stuff but they say they do it to keep their mother happy or their wife off their asss or something.
It's pretty sad when people won't admit what they really are.

I'll let the Christians fight this one out. If they say they're a Christian up front, I have fair warning and only myself to blame if I get tricked out of money.
Anyone who says they are a Christian is a Christian to me.
