Simply put, it is not so much about, do this and don't do that. It is all about the purification of the heart. Then one knows what is up and down in a true sense of things.
If the heart knows that it is the one, then a certificate of marriage (from a justice of the peace or a church) is of no value to what the heart knows and feels.
Many things were written for an age that never saw even a glimpse of spirituality.

The kiss in itself is not a sin. But you have to be careful with this. Kissing is part of foreplay, which is to get the body ready for the sexual act. Kissing arouses a person, and the more you heat up, the farther you want to go. It eventually leads to sex, and that is a sin if you do it with someone who is not your spouse. So it's better to not tempt yourself. The Bible says we should avoid any temptation.

I don't think it would be considered a sin, however, it is something that is special and would be better off to save for when you are married. Otherwise it won't be as special when you are married. Besides, when you do things like that it could lead to other things, and then that could lead to fornication which is a sin. However, adultery is a sin, but that is only when you are married and have a affair with someone.

First of all, it would be fornication. If you look at the dictionary fornication means,
"consensual sexual intercourse between two persons not married to each other."
Adultery means, "sexual unfaithfulness of a married person."
Second, it most certainly is not! Don't be fooled by those who might tell you otherwise. It is a sin if you take "kissing" too far though.
I could just see God telling Moses, "And most important of all: don't KISS! That is an unforgivable sin!"
For crying out loud, that's something a Muslim would say.
In response to Ryan.
Come on! Kissing is not saved for just marriage. People are allowed to kiss as long as neither of the two kissing are married (and, as aforementioned, if they don't take their kissing to far).

I do believe that God does want you to be Sexually Pure until marriage. I have heard that kissing can mean that you are giving away your innocence and are not as pure as you used to be. Whether or not that is considered as breaking the ten commandment I would not think so. You should not commit the act of sex before you are married. You should be pure in that aspect. As long as you are not kissing the guy for the wrong reasons I do not see that It should count against a person.

When I was 16 an Irish Priest came into our class to teach us about sins. He told us that French Kissing was a mortal sin. His reasoning was that anything that caused a boy to get an erection was a mortal sin.
I immediately discounted what he said -- because I knew that just being 16 couldn't be a mortal sin.
If you are unaware -- Catholics have three types of sin -- Original Sin, Venial Sin and Mortal Sin. Original Sin and Mortal Sin can send you to Hell. The former is wiped clean by baptism. The latter is wiped clean by asking for God's forgiveness (act of contrition). Venial sins are lesser sins that do not send you to hell. You go to purgatory until you are cleansed.

Of course not. If it's not in the Bible it's not about religion it's about human's personal beliefs, mores and norms. 80% of what's preached by churches has nothing to do with religion. What I'm getting at is that God doesn't mind but your priest might.

It's a sin to even think about kissing on the lips.

A kiss can lead to more than a kiss. Playing with emotions is like playing with fire, doesn't take much too get burned.
