The only factor that mattered is the one that got us into that war and that was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. No one hits us without us hitting back.

Germany's sinking of the Lusitania... and Germany's subsequent decision to continue unrestricted submarine warfare ? That was valid.

German sabotage of ammo-depots in New Jersey ? That would be a valid casus belli.

Germany's attempt to get the Mexican government to invade the USA and keep us too busy to engage in Europe ? That would also be a valid reason.

Wilson called for war on Germany, which the U.S. Congress declared on 6 April 1917.

Just amusing that some think that World War II was the "Great War"....
