My chihuahua gave birth to a litter about 7 weeks ago. The pups are weaned. She is bleeding now. (of course, she had stopped bleeding after giving birth). Is there any way she could be in heat again this soon? Or do you think this is a problem I should be concerned about?

she shouldn't be in heat and I would get her to the vets immediatley.
Hope it's nothing but a dog should come into heat every 6 months and considering she caried 2 months ( maybe a week more at the most) and the pups are only 7 weeks thats only 4 months.

Most of the time it depends on your dog! But i wouldn't worry to much about it many dogs go in heat soon after they give birh. The dogs life cycle won't change because it has given birth! Most of the time there will be a diffrence for a while, but they will get it back very shortly!

I would think it would be unlikely that she would be in heat. Generally when they are nursing they do not go into heat.
Does she have any kinds of distress? Is she bleeding a lot?
Are you certain where the blood is coming from? Is it possible that some puppy isn't completely weaned and is still trying to nurse?

get her spayed!! look up all the health benefits, it can save your dogs life!! It's also a lot cheaper than caring for a litter. Call a shelter and they can give you a coupon for a cheaper spaying. Every puppy your dog has means one more dog in a shelter dies, and if your puppies have puppies, then there are even more dogs dieing, and chances are either your puppies or the puppies puppies will end up in a shelter.

If you love your dog, have her spayed and save a dog's life who has no home or family. It can save your dog''s life too.

Take your dog to the vet, she could be in heat again. Either way you need to know.

You might want to take her to the vet just in case theres something wrong, but as far as i know, female dogs bleed when they are in heat, but i dont know about so soon after having a litter.

There's a possibility she could be having some sort of heat related syndrome. But I think you getting her to the Vet would solve any issues or speculation

Yes, they go back into heat soon after the pups stop nursing. Now would be a great time to talk to your vet about having her spayed. :-)

It's very unlikely that she is back in season already.. It's possible I suppose... but if it was me.. It is rare enough that it would worry the heck out of me and I would take her to the vet to find out what the heck is going on.

The best way to get an answer to this, is to check with your vet.
