she was Lactose intolerant at 12 months since she would get rashes really bad after milk. But her poop is still runny and always soft. Maybe 2x has she had a normal stool. My mom now thinks she is allergic to glueten as this would explain it...but she is in the 100% for size so there is no growth development. Is it normal for a child of this age to have such soft stools still?

i'm not a doctor, but i don't think it's normal that this is happening.
lactaid fixed my son's diarrhea who is now (3). he also is lactose intolerant but developed it around age (2). are you feeding your little girl cereal? my son is allergic to oats and couldn't eat the mixed grain baby cereal by gerber because it has oats in it. when he was about 8 mos all the sudden he started having really bad diarrhea (all day- - all the time) and we couldn't figure out why. at the time we didn't know he was allergic to his baby cereal until one day we were giving him a hair cut and giving him cheerios to keep him still, well, he threw up. that's when my mother suggested "maybe it's oats he's allergic to?". we cut all oats out of his diet and his problems immediately stopped. i know it's hard to have your child go through this. i DREADED every time i had to change his diapers! just for the simple fact that i knew it would hurt him. he would scream and cry because he had gotten a terrible rash. i felt so bad for my baby! i hope you find out soon what it is!!!

geez, how many dunb asses have you seen???
seriously, this is a good forum but there are some
people who just answer to get points..

Your daughter has normal poop for her age. Until she starts eating mostly solids with soluble and non-soluble fiber
her poop will stay soft. when she had a normal stool was it after a day of pretty normal everyday food, not baby food or lots of milk or juice? until2 yrs or older it will be like this...
dont worry, the Gluten intolerance would cause more violent allergic reactrion...and it doesnt sound like she has this..
go ask you DR is you really want to be sure...

Your doctor needs to run tests for allergies. Does she get rashes after eating other dairy products? If not it is not a severe dairy allergy. Some kids just poop more than others. My son is 3 and still goes up to 3 times a day and then one day he won't go at all. It is actually better for them to have soft stools than to be constipated, which can be painful for young kids. Do talk to your child's doctor though.

My kids just have soft poops, period (not diarrhea, but soft)...it's normal for them.

Naturally, this is a question for her doctor, but that's just our experience here.

A hard poop isn't considered to be the most healthy either...there was a whole Oprah show devoted to the this topic, where the doctor described the healthiest kind of poop...softer, making an 's' shape upon landing in the toilet. This is exactly what my kids have.

Talk with your pediatrician. If she's not eating solid foods, then she is won't have any hard stool to release, right?

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take her to the doctor no matter what the cost. Also listen to your mother, parents USUALLY know best. You need to be more specific so I can tell if you are talking about a human baby or a pet!!!??? Please excuse any misspellings! I am only almost a pre-teen (will not say my exact age) so you may want to discredit what I say.

Maybe from time to time give her apple juice for babies. This should help make poop bulkier.
