How can I do that? My mom is Catholic, but I want to go to a church that is more involved. I want to have more faith and become more religious. And also can I convince another person, for example my husband to do so also?

I can't believe no one suggested it so far. Please pray about it. Talk to God about how you feel and seek His direction. Nothing can replace this first, essential step.

Blessings,

Jack

The first step I would take is take some time and look into all the Catholic churches in your neighborhood or outlying communities, if you would like to stay Catholic.

The church where I belong, does not do many activities, unless it is to raise money. The pastor has been there over 50 years and while he is wonderful, every mass is the same. Because he is an older priest, his views have not changed and new life needs to be brought into the church. I have been very disappointed for a long time with my current church.

Then when I visited my uncle's church when he daughter was christened, I was extremely surprised at the difference in the masses. Their church was more like a family. A complete opposite from my church. The pastor was younger and more lively with a great sense of humor. Children had Sunday school, but before they left mass to go off in another room for school, this Sunday, each child wrote on a piece of paper something they were good at. The pastor came down, and in the middle of the aisle, read each and every one of those children's papers outloud and made them feel special and included. Activities and trips were bountiful in the Mass bulletin, unlike my church where it was more about giving money than participating. If I didn't live an hour away, I would have joined that day.

I was discouraged being a Catholic because of my church, however, there are other Catholic churches out there that are wonderful. Take the time to look into each one. You may find exactly what you are looking for.

My suggestion regarding your husband is, investigate churches first, and when you find one that you feel enthusiastic about, share it with him. Once you get more involved, he may follow. Finding where you belong is really going to shift your energy and lift your spirits and those around you can't help but notice. That alone may be exactly what you need to convince another person to become more involved.

Blessings!
Kerri

What you need is a personal relationship with the Lord. It is not a matter of religious tradition. First of all, you have to seek a more spiritual environment where there is a greater manifestation of God's power.

Pray constantly so that you can hear the voice of God. Yes, seek His voice so that you can know His will. His purpose is to bring more souls to Him. In your field of endeavour, he will direct you on how to do this.

You can convince your husband, by showing Him the agape love of Jesus Christ and praying for him.

Get into a church that is more involved with the signs and wonders and the power of the Holy Spirit. Test the spirits (1 John 4:1) and live according to God's word.

Your title says you want to be more "spiritual." In the body of your letter you said you want to become more "religious." Being spiritual and religious are two different things. It may help to find "within your own self" which means more to you. Then you will be led to the right place to worship. Trying to convince others (ex: your husband) to come into a religion with you, can be a losing battle but it's not an impossible one. Good luck!

Becoming more "religious" will not make you more spiritual. Finding another church may help, but it won't do it for you.
It is not about having an certain amount of faith either. It's about getting real in your personal relationship with our living God. You have everything you need already.

As a child of God, you can boldly go to the throne with your requests. Talk and pray with Him... tell Him how you feel. Let Him truly be Lord in all that you do. Abide in Him and His will, following the lead of His Spirit. He is as close as the mention of His name.

As for your husband, you can share what and where you are going, but He must establish his own relationship. He may be inspired by you and eventually convinced by what he sees from your example.

If you want to become more spiritual, then I suggest spending more personal time with Jesus. It is very likely that your mom's church has perpetual adoration, or another parish close by. Commit to spending 1 hour per week for 6 months. Bring Scripture and/or other spiritual reading with you, but bare your soul before the Lord. Ask Him to reveal himself more deeply and the plan he has for your life. Jesus will not disappoint you.

If you can't convince your husband go without him and let him see how it blesses and changes you! Ask God to give you an opening to go to a Charismatic church..........and look for one, call for a ride and go! : bless you in your adventure to follow Jesus. You're desire is probably coming from the Holy Spirit.

Sometiems the best way to find a church is to "shop around". Ask friends, relatives, even coworkers about their church. Visit on a Sunday. Talk to the minister.

Going to church does not make one more spiritual though.
Prayer, scrupture study and practicing ones faith regardless of going to church or not DOES increase our spirituality.

I don't know if I would recommend a specific kind of church, but I would choose one that doesn't force things on you and doesn't threaten you to believe instead of easing you into it. Also remember that God is with you no matter what church you go to or what you believe.

Find a good bible teaching church that teaches the bible and is alive in Christ. I don't mean to push anything on you...but I have attended Calvary Chapel for about ten years, and they are wonderful bible teaching churches.

You can't convince anyone to join you *smile*, but you can ask your husband and tell him how much you'd love to go together to church.

May God bless you for seeking Him.

Jesus promised, "I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18). This means that his Church will never be destroyed and will never fall away from him. His Church will survive until his return. Among the Christian churches, only the Catholic Church has existed since the time of Jesus. Every other Christian church is an offshoot of the Catholic Church. The Eastern Orthodox churches broke away from unity with the pope in 1054. The Protestant churches were established during the Reformation, which began in 1517. (Most of today’s Protestant churches are actually offshoots of the original Protestant offshoots.) Only the Catholic Church existed in the tenth century, in the fifth century, and in the first century, faithfully teaching the doctrines given by Christ to the apostles, omitting nothing. The line of popes can be traced back, in unbroken succession, to Peter himself. This is unequaled by any institution in history: Even the oldest government is new compared to the papacy. The Catholic Church has existed for nearly 2,000 years, despite constant opposition from the world. This is testimony to the Church’s divine origin: Any merely human organization would have collapsed long ago. The Catholic Church is today the most vigorous church in the world (and the largest, with a billion members: one sixth of the human race), and that is testimony not to the cleverness of the Church’s leaders, but to the protection of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus’ Church is called catholic ("universal" in Greek) because it is his gift to all people. He told his apostles to go throughout the world and make disciples of "all nations" (Matt. 28:19–20). For 2,000 years the Catholic Church has carried out this mission, preaching the good news that Christ died for all men and that he wants all of us to be members of his universal family (Gal. 3:28). Nowadays the Catholic Church is found in every country of the world and is still sending out missionaries to "make disciples of all nations" (Matt. 28:19). The Church Jesus established was known by its most common title, "the Catholic Church," at least as early as the year 107, when Ignatius of Antioch used that title to describe the one Church Jesus founded. The title apparently was old in Ignatius’s time, which means it went all the way back to the time of the apostles.
