Satan knows scripture probably better than anyone living. The other answers, about his using scripture against Jesus, are absolutely correct. If we notice, what satan did was quote scripture out of context, and also slightly change its meaning. That was his trick in the garden of eden as well.

As Jesus is our example in all things, we can use the word of God as our sword. Ephesians 6 describes the full armor of God, and certainly the word is part of our armor.

REV 12:7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.

REV 12:8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.

REV 12:9 The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

JOB 2:2 And the LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."

MT 4:10 Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: `Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.' "

MK 1:34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.

LK 4:41 Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Christ.

1TI 4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

JAS 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder.

REV 18:2 With a mighty voice he shouted: "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird.

Trust me, there are instances of Satan attempting to tempt Jesus based on Scripture! He knows the Word VERY well and has been trying to twist it to his advantage for years!

Yep, I am very much aware of that now. That is how "cults" are started. Someone takes one verse in the Bible and blows it completely out of context. It's too hard for them to understand so they have to take their "human" logic and make it easier to comprehend. Making the people who follow them not trust the Bible as it is. I'm a former Mormon, so I know alittle bit about what you are saying.

I am aware, but thank you for the reminder. I didn't realize how many people on here don't believe that Satan is real. Maybe it's useless, but it's worth a shot: "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." There is a source for all of the evil in the world. Not believing that will not make it go away.

The bible is the creation of man and therefore is nothing more than Paul's very slanted interpretation of events that he was not party to. All the people who new what really happened were killed. As for "SATAN" knowing the bible I am sure he does. For he is the morning Star the most faithful of gods servants. With out evil could you know good? The duality of god being good and the devil being bad is in most all religions. Just look at the Yin and Yang opposites to bring balance. I believe we are all god both good and evil and we must find balance. As for Yahweh, arugmania, caxelquatel, Sophia, Zeus, Gabriel and all the others so called gods I believe they are ascended beings trying to help or hurt us along a path to enlightenment. We must chose our own way.

That is precisely what he tried to do with Jesus when Jesus went alone into the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights. Only Jesus knew the way to answer Satans temptations. Words from the Bible are often taken out of context by persons seeking to fill their own agendas.

OH yes. He even does that when you ARE aware! Just one day with your guard down is all it takes! His favorite weapon against Christians is to use God's own word against us, beat us up,make us feel condemned and unworthy. Satan does not play fair he never will. He is after all, satan.

ALL ABOUT SATAN

2Cor.4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which
believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the
image of God, should shine unto them.
2Cor.11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel
of light.
1Pet.5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that
he may exalt you in due time:
5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil,
as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Why exactly would Satan NOT "know the bible", since he is, after all, an "Angel of The Lord"?

Satan who? Man does a pretty good job of that themselves! Especially when it was man who not only wrote and edited the bible but invented Satan, 200 years after Christ's Death! Read your history books dear.
