It depends on what type of hospitalization it is (and the fact that rules differ in different hospitals). If its a mental health situation, and you signed yourself into the hospital, you are typically allowed to sign yourself out unless they think that you are a threat to yourself or others, if you were taken in against your will you still can sign papers to attempt to get out but, again, if they think you arent ready they will keep you. for injuries, you typically cant unless you are physically able to take care of yourself, all though it will be more difficult than waiting for them to discharge you.

Generally, no. You can sign yourself out AMA (against medical advice). If we're talking about a mental health admission, if you were committed, you can't sign yourself out. If you went into the mental health facility of your own free will, then, yes, you can leave.

that might depend on your condition and ability to walk out of there. if you are able to leave on your own they cant keep you . unless you are under suicide watch or something you should be able to sign a release and leave.
