I have a new treadmill and have never had one before in my home. How many miles a day do I need to do for weight loss and muscle toning? At what speed? I have lost 100+ pounds in the last 10 months and have a few more to lose.

hey hon.
i would say to start out with keep the speed at about the level of a brisk walk until you build up a tolorance and then add speed from there
if you do this and go up about one leval a week before you know it you will be running in no time.
it is like anything else you do. you have to start off small and work up.
i have been working out for over 15 years and it wasn't easy to begin with but i kept on and it got easier and easier.
as far as how much time....well i would say start off with about 20 minuets and go from there. just don't over do it and go more than you're comfortable with.
good luck and thanks for all your kind words to me.
blessed be and peace to you and yours

Ms Crone, start off with what you can do each day on the level. Then work your way up to being able to sustain a good pace for 20 minutes each day. Gradually increasde the slope from that point on. If at any time, your ankles or knees begin to be painful, back off one notch and stay at that level until the ankles/knees get built up to handle further stress.

Remember now, your body doesn't move the same way it did when you were 100 Lbs heavier and you have to get used to the new YOU.
