i am not suicidal and am taking my medication, but i have been in a deep depression for 2 months now. i've tried getting out of the house, talking to my friends, listening to music, writing about it and getting it out on paper, watching a movie, watching tv, playing with my dogs, playing my guitar and NONE of this stuff is working for me. i have a girlfriend and i don't want her to see me down all the time. what can i do to make it go away? i have lost almost all interest in doing things that matter to me and school.

You might want to talk to your therapist about getting a medication that works better for your or a better and higher treatment. Obviously your medication isn't working if you've taking it and have been depressed for 2 months. Do that first and then you can worry about trying by hanging out with friends, listening to music, playing with your dog, or any of the other things you said you do.

Activity--you need exercise, it produces endorphins.

Meditation--you need a quiet place in your mind where you can listen to yourself breathe and block out all depressing thoughts.

Do stuff unrelated to depression. Write about something else.

Lots of light--outside for 1/2 hour every day

Acupuncture--has been around for much, much longer than western medicine. It's effective, even if we don't understand it.

The same for Chinese herbal remedies.

Keep trying to do the positive things that keep you moving. When you let things come to a complete stop, you're in trouble.

good for you in doing all the right things, going to therapist,(hopefully ) taking meds. You may just need more time. I personally think it's too early to switch meds after two months. Maybe the dosage needs to be increased. If you are not going to talk therapy, you need to do that. If it's just a primary care MD giving you the psych. meds, find a psychiatrist. as much as I like my primary care doc. he's clueless in my opinion re: meds. He refused to fill scripts for me as he doesn't agree with pyschiatrist's combo of 2 anti depressants I take. Primary care MDs do not understand. so that's my advise. give it time, for some people it takes longer. Good luck.

Go back to your doctor

It is useless taking medication unless it works

Yours clearly doesn't
