I like spam. Usually I slice it thin and pan fry it. I put it on some toast and with a slice of amercian cheese. Great sandwich! It would be interesting to go to Hawaii and see all the creative things they do with spam.

Yes... I like Spam

Spam and Eggs

12 oz Spam cubed
2 eggs, beaten
2 ounces Cheddar cheese, grated

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Pour in eggs, then Spam. Cook, stirring, until eggs are nearly done, then sprinkle cheese over, and stir until melted.

Spam Burgers

12 oz Spam
4 hard-cooked eggs
4 oz Cheddar cheese, cubed
1 medium onion, chopped
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
6 slices bacon, cut in half
6 hamburger buns, split

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat your oven's broiler.
2. Combine the spam, eggs, cheese and onion in a food processor, or run them through a grinder. Once everything is minced, stir in enough of the mayonnaise to hold it together. Spoon equal amounts of the mixture onto open buns, and place two pieces of bacon on top of each one.
3. Broil a few inches from the heat for 5 to 8 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp. Watch carefully so the burgers do not burn.

Well, if you like it so much, did you know...

It was introduction in 1937 and original name was (Hormel Spiced Ham) And it's said that it was changed to Spam like this..."SPiced hAM",
Nutritional Data
A 56 gram (approximately 2 ounce) serving of original Spam provides

7 grams of protein

2 grams of carbohydrates

15 grams of fat (23% US Daily Value) including 6 grams of saturated fat (28% US Daily Value)

And over 170 calories.

A serving contains nearly a third of the recommended daily intake of sodium (salt).

Spam provides very little in terms of vitamins and minerals (0% vitamin A, 1% vitamin C, 1% calcium, 3% iron).

It has been listed as a food that is a poor choice for weight loss (or weight gain) and optimum health and as a food that "is high in saturated fat and sodium."

Here's a little Trivia...

A Spammobile travels around the US.
Two NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers have driven cars with Spam sponsorship: Lake Speed, #9, in 1995-1996, and Mike Wallace, #91, for several races in 1997.
There is a Spam restaurant in the Philippines called Spam Jam, named after the annual festival that Hormel Foods holds in its corporate headquarters. This restaurant was approved and licensed by Hormel Foods. The only items not containing Spam are the French fries and the hot-dogs, Which use Hormel's "Wrangler" brand instead.

And even though I know all this...I have to admit, I love it :-)

About once every 5 years I get a hankering for a spam sandwich. I like one with thinly sliced spam, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayonnaise. I also enjoy a fried spam sandwich with mustard.

I always keep a can of Spam in the pantry. When all else fails, there's always a Spam sandwich with mayonaise on killer white bread.

I am almost ashamed to admit it, but cold spam and hot chips (fries) I love, I know it isn't the best meat, but I like it... and as long as you don't have it very often, hey occasionally it doesn't hurt to go with something like that if you enjoy it..

personally I don't care much for it, but I make it for my dad all the time. He loves it sliced and fried with a little bit of diced onion and butter, then served on bread or a roll... I think he puts ketchup on it...my sister slices it thin and dices it and fries it in a pan with pineapple juice and pineapple chunks.. she tosses it in pasta... it's not to bad I've tried it...

I haven't eaten it in years. My husband loved it but even the lower sodium is too salty for me. And I want my pig ears left whole and cooked in turnip greens, not ground up. I even like tripe cut up in menudo but not ground up in Spam.

You can cut it into slices and pan fry them in a bit of sunflower, corn or soya oil. Use them in sandwiches along with cucumber slices. Alternatively, dice it and put in fried rice.
