If you want the absolute most effecient way to burn fat check out tabata intervals. According to leaness expert and bodybuilding legend Clarence Bass www.cbass.com

Here you warm up for 5 to 10 minutes of a cardio exercise. Some athletes perform a tempo or light interval prior to the tabata intervals where they will raise the resistance or tempo to around 80% of their max heart rate.

For the tempo/light interval they would get up to their 80% level for 30 or 60 seconds and follow it with 30 to 60 seconds of around a 60% level. Repeat 3 to 5 times.

Heart Rate Maximums can be debated as well, but the rule of thumb is your Max Heart Rate or MHR is 220 minus your age.

After the tempo (light) interval, exercise at a moderate level for at least 5minutes ( you will need it!) prior to the Tabata Intervals.

The tabata intervals are 20 seconds of 100%plus effort, all out, followed by an active rest for 10 seconds. For the 10 second rest you pull yourself to almost stopping, but keep moving.

You repeat the interval up to 8 times for 4 minutes for a session.

You follow this with at least a 5 to 10 minute cool down.

The research on this method has been amazing in its ability to burn fat and raise metabolism.

Also you will have to work you way up to this for a full out effect. This method is used by elite athletes and can chew them up.

You can also try the cardio coach work out CDs and MP3s. They feature a guided interval workout that is not as brutal as the Tabata routine.

Also if you're not already, consider starting on a weight lifting program to develop lean mass. NO you won't end up bulky like Arnold. To get to the level of a pro bodybuilder it requires specific effort. It doesn't happen by accident.

Keep in mind that roughly each pound of lean muscle burns 50 calories a day. So gaining 10 lbs of muscle will burn 500 calories a day or 3500 a week, which will equal one pound of fat.

Also make sure you eat right, avoiding "white" carbs, getting plenty of good lean protein with each meal. The Body For Life meal plan is great for developing your metabolism although it does promote meal replacement shake a bit much in my own opinion.

The rule of thumb is eat clean every day. Get good exercise. Get enough rest. And try to have some fun along the way.

Good Luck.

Upper Body

After your cardiovascular exercises, begin your upper body work out with a few exercises. Do these steps three times a week for better results.

Basic Pushups

Basic pushups will work your chest area, triceps and rear deltoids. Aim for 3 sets of 10 to 15 repetitions (depending on your fitness level), and gradually increase the repetitions as the movement becomes easier. Once the movement becomes too easy, you can increase the workout by elevating your feet on a chair to increase resistance.

Lay face down on the floor with your legs extended behind you and your hands directly beneath your shoulders. Your fingertips should be pointed straight ahead, and make sure you keep your back flat and your head in natural alignment with your spine. Get into the starting position by extending your arms straight from your shoulders, which lifts your entire body off the floor. While keeping your body stable, go down until your nose almost touches the floor. Exhale as you push back to the starting position with your chest and triceps. Try not to lock your elbows in order to keep constant tension on your muscles.

Spicy foods like hot peppers can also increase your metabolism temporarily. Peppers contain the compound capsaicin, which exudes heat and boosts metabolism. You can take advantage of these benefits by adding some bell pepper or cayenne pepper to your eggs, stew, or anything else you want spiced up. If you aren't a fan of spicy foods you can take advantage of capsaicin's benefits by taking cayenne supplements. In addition to a balanced diet, you should also be drinking plenty of water. Cold water changes the body's internal temperature. As your body, works to heat it, your metabolic rate increases and more calories are burned.

build muscile. muscle burns fat by increasing your metabolism. also don't eat for one hour after your cardo exercise as this is when your body does the most fat burning. if you dont eat after cardio, your body furns the fat already stored, if you eat after cadio it will burn what you just took in instead of the fat already stored.

All you need is a good pair of athletic shoes. Once you have them, walk/jog around your neighborhood for 30-60 min most days of the week. Also make sure you're drinking plenty water and eating a healthy diet consisting mostly of fruits and vegetables.
