Why doesn't St. Louis spend money on parking, so everybody, including people who work there, don't have to pay for it. It's such a pain to deal with parking in the city and then you have to pay for that.

Most stadiums are owned by the cities that they are in and the sports teams have a lease with the city. Very few stadiums are private ventures or owned by the team.
Since the city owns the stadium it is supported and paid for with your tax dollars the same as any other public building the city owns.
Sports teams bring in huge amounts of tourist dollars. Money spent on hotels, meals and entertainment.
The venues also create revenue by rentals for conventions, concerts and other functions that need to accommodate large crowds.

Depends on the lease with the City People think sports and sports stadiums are dumb, but I mean look how much it can bring a city together. The Saints are a great example of that.
