This is a little quote from an answer regarding mormons.
"Read the Bible, throw the Mormon crap away. We are told of false idols and profits. They have a false profit, the only way to Heaven is through Jesus, not through that moron who decide to add his chapters to fulfill his ego"
If a christian knows that some parts of another christian holy book (of course not his!) are flawed and that they were added because of someone's ego, doesn't that christian accept the idea that some parts of his own holy book were added for the same reasons?
How can you know the bible is the true word of god? Others claim that other books are the truth and the word of god, what arguments made you "know" your religion is true?
This question is not for everyone... basicly, just for those who "know the truth". I want to know their truth too

gtahvfaith: ok I agree god doesn't lie, and how do you know it's god's word? It wasn't god who came to you and told you all that, you read it in a book. How do you know it's god's word there?

rann_georgia: the book of mormon would be one of them. Also, as you may already know, some christian branches have some differences in the bible (not very big, could be just translation, but they can be interpreted different, I compared a few psalms)
What sources do you want me to list? I quoted an answer that I saw to another question, and asked something (logical and with no resources to list).
And why would I not call christians "dear"? If it upsets you that much, consider that it wasn't adressed to you.
And I actually have many answeers who answered for another reason than the 2 points. In fact you too wrote too much for just 2 lousy points

Curious: if the hatred argument is real, then why do catholics hate "the Da Vinco Code"? It's fiction, right, in libraries it's at the "fiction" section. So why did they try so hard to forbid it? Why would they hate a fairy tale?

I believe that the KJV is the inspired, infallible, inherant Word of God. God said that He would keep His Word pure and preserved and that not one jot or tittle would pass away before the world passes away. There are over 5,000 ancient documents that attest to the KJV as being the authentc Word of God. Be they small portions or whole books. The Old Testament was read aloud in public every seven years and the ancient people were able to memorize the Holy Scriptures word for word. They would write them down, word for word and keep them available for reading later on. The New Teatament was written by either the Apostes or others that knew the Apostles and were eyewitness accounts. It was written when many of the eyewitness's were still alive and anything that wasn't true would have been found out. There are many internal witness in the Bible and it is so well written that it is impossible for mankind, even in this day and age, to replicate. Google Ivan Panin and see what he found in the Bible, mathematically speaking of course.
The Bible also clearly states that no man shall add to or take away from what is written.
The term Christian reers to anyone that went through the Salvation process in Acts 2:38 and received the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. This is what makes us a Christian, without it, we are just blowing smoke.

I agree. Mormons "believe the bible to be the word of God as far as it is correctly translated" We are not sure what God said and what was added by man, but we believe it to be the truth.
Mormons DO read the bible(just so you know).
I know my faith is true because of a personal revelation. But I also believe that all other religions, whether Catholic, protestant, Hindi, or Islam, ALL have some truth to them...but not the full truth.

I don't know everything. I don't see what God sees.
However, when I know (in my heart and my head) something is true, I do my best to follow it to the best of my ability.
That being said, this is why I believe in the Bible
1) The prophecies
Isaiah predicted hundreds of years before it happened that Cyrus would subdue nations (45:1) and rebuild the temple (44:28)
Daniel (ch 2) predicted all of earth's history (fall of Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, Rome, and a divided Europe).
Both of these were hundreds of years before the fulfillment.
Many critics have accused Christians (and Jews) of changing the dates that the prophecies were written. However, we now have archeological evidence (copies) written before the events happened.
2) The test of time. The Bible not only speaks to people in different generations and cultures, but can not be repressed. Many leaders and ideologies have tried to destroy it, but it continues to have influence even after the ideologies crumble.
3) The hatred that non believers have for it.
It is not natural to hate a sweet myth. No one hates Santa or the tooth fairy. You hate things that you want not to believe in, but still part of yourself is drawn to. However, people who say that the Bible is just a sweet myth, tend to hate it with a supernatural fury.
4) Best for last.
I believe in the Bible because I know that it has changed me. It has given me peace and hope. When my natural tendency was anger and worry.

Good question. You are to test all claims of truth and hold fast to that which is good. All throughout the bible it is written that the the writters of the bible were inspired by one single Spirit. If this is the case then the bible should harmonize and despite the fact that the bible was written by many many different writers seperated by thousands of years, it still manages to stay in harmony with its claims.
Another part of the Bible that reveals itself to be of a higher source is the prophetic writtings, which in a short time of studying will reveal to successfully have fortold of future events that took place, onces that are occuring at the very moment, and predicts what happens in the future yet to come.
In addition, one of the amazing things I have found about the bible is that understanding and benefiting from it is not limited to race, age, income, or gender. Anyone and everyone can improve their lives through the wisdom of this book.
Also, most of the successful and stable and happiest nations in the world have built their laws and constitutions around biblical principles.
It hands down out shines any copy cat out there

Its not really necessary to slam the views of people, or try to convince them of one's own view. Free will is a great thing, as it allows everyone to have the right to decide whether to be a lemming or a burrower (or something in between). There are so many religions and so much philosophy availible to study. What is the truth for an individual? What chimes for him/her?
Conservative power thirsty folk tend to want to restrict what people can read in an effort to supress views which don't fit their interests (eg Stalin/Roman empire). Those people deny us the sources for which we can make our own path or journey (as they also deny themselves). Thats why its so great when archeologists find old scriptures hidden in caves that were put there to keep them safe from ignorant zealots.
Books contain teachings and opinions, and the only 2 reasons people write them are:
1) To help others
2) To help themselves.
There's only one reason to read a religious/philosophic/psycological book however, and thats to help one'self improve. Does it matter that 90 pages of a 100 page book are full of rubbish, if the 10 pages which have something valuable in them really add to one's understanding? A wise person finds a pearl within his wheat field, she will certainly sell the wheat and keep the pearl for herself.
What is truth?
For me; Truth is something which distinguishes knowledge of one's own self from knowledge pertaining to the material world. Any knowledge that allows you to find the divine within, and utilize it, and also destroy the ignorance that blocks the expression of the divine.
All the worldly knowledge can get you is more knowledge about the material condition which one can use to get more things, possesions and power. We can never know everything, even with a trillion past lives. That is why humans (especially clever one's) are bad sinners and hurt people. We hurt others through ignorance, and zealous people tend to hurt the most with their ignorance (example being Saul of Tarsus). Therefore any knowledge that can help clever people control their intellect for positive uses, this I shall call truth.

I feel that this flock of sheep will preserve to butt heads with one an extra, simply because the church has continuously performed. As for a lengthen in Christ's go back, I feel in order to take location while the final character who "will" get stored, will get stored. The area is white, and it's as much as Christians to be busy harvesting the culmination for the Kingdom. Perhaps if we had been all going within the equal path, on the equal velocity, whilst, it could aid us to discover that final misplaced soul. two Peter three:nine The Lord isn't slack related to His promise, as a few depend slackness, however ilong sufferingng towards us, now not inclined that any will have to perish however that each one will have to come to repentance.

Jesus and the Apostles knew the scriptures, which we call the Old testament. They trusted it, submitted themselves to it...even Jesus.
The New Testament was written by those individuals that were inspired by God, and the writings themselves are inspired, or, "God-breathed."
A careful reading will prove they are together one harmonious whole, and the Old Test. backs up the New, the New explains much in the Old.
The best way to determine for yourself, if logic won't do it, and examination of the fulfillment of the O.T. prophecies in the N.T. won't do it, is to actually DO WHAT IT SAYS.
Actually follow Jesus, and see for yourself, and you will see it inside yourself, that it is all very real.
I could load you up with book titles and references, and it would explain so very much, but unless you really desire the truth, you won't see it. Read the Bible and act on what you read. It's one way to know
Nothing in the Bible was written to satisfy anyone's ego. Had it been so, there would be parts that are stilted in praising man, and you just don't find that.

I've heard of many false profits on Wall Street.
However, I have some questions for you. How can you call Christians "dear?"
Can you list the other holy books that you make mention of? Gee, now you made me end a sentence with a preposition and Churchill would be turning over in his grave as this is something that he would not with up put.
I don't know that this question is for anyone, other than those wanting to gain two points as you list no sources and basically your truth is a mystery. Please show us the truth.
The only thing I can say, is do your own research. When you actually get some, share it with us and don't spout your propaganda until you have some.
Even Goebells listed his sources.
