hunting ducks. and it doesn't matter what type of dog. and i agree that when hunting deer that would be a hard smell to get rid of, so the dog would not be used ever for deer hunting.

I hunt Cottontail Rabbits with three (3)* Beagles & your chances of harvesting Game are increased by 100%.* They can cover more ground & locate more game than any hunter tramping around in the cover on foot.** They are a real great asset & companion to hunt with. Once you have hunted with a Dog you don't care to hunt without one.** For ducks I recommend a Labrador Retriever.**Labradors retrieve the Ducks once you shoot them & return them to you.* My Beagles will also retrieve the Rabbits or Pheasant or Grouse & Woodcock.**

Although various animals have been used to aid the hunter, none has been as important as the dog.

The use of dogs in hunting represents a collaboration of persons over time which reaches back to the dawn of our species. Their evolution through selective breeding from wolves which hunted for themselves to the pointer and other hunting dogs which find, identify and retrieve prey entirely in service to man is extraordinary.

The very word for hunting in Ancient Greek, kynègia, is derived from kynos 'dog'.

Dogs today are used to find, chase and retrieve game and sometimes to kill it. Hunting dogs allow man, with his less acute senses of smell and hearing, to pursue and kill prey that would otherwise be very difficult or dangerous to hunt.

what are you hunting?.....dogs are great for game birds....it also depends on what the dog was trained to hunt....in most states you can't hunt deer with a dog and having one is a hard smell to get of your hunting cloths....also a working dog and a house pet are two different things
