I asked this question a few days ago and really did not get the answers I was looking for (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkzlHV.rFPykSiwsA.TPuVLsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071011111712AA1zefw)

So, I will post it again in hopes of getting your opinions:

I am new to YA and the dog section and have been reading how many people do not recommend Fort Dodge vacccines.

I am going to school to be a veterinarian technician and would like to learn more about this issue. I am concerned!! My pets receive vaccines from Fort Dodge!! All opinions, literature, websites, etc. are welcome!

Thank you!!

Personally, I do not like Fort Dodge because they are ALWAYS the ones that come out with the new vaccines.....seemingly without much research!!!

I was a new vet tech in a town very near Lyme, CT when Lyme disease came into the spotlight. Fort Dodge was right there with the vaccine. The drug reps told us it was the greatest thing since sliced bread!!! Well, it wasn't. There were tons of reactions, all the dogs then tested positive from the vaccine and treatment was complicated. It was a mess for quite a while. It did not take long for many practices in the area to stop ordering the vaccine.
There have been several vaccines like this. The FIV and FIP vaccines for cats......I know of no practice that uses them at all. Giaridia.
And I have found that if a vaccine of any kind is going to cause any kind of reaction, it will be Fort Dodge.

I just prefer not to use any of their products!!!!!

My vet doesnt use Fort Doge I discovered today. I had to bring my Golden into the vets for a possible eye infection. I asked her. She even told me that she will not use them. So what does that say for Fort Dodge. I though she did but was glad to hear that she doesn't.

Oh yes he has pink eye from running in the evevrgreen trees after a rabbit! He got a tiny speck of what she thinks was a leaf lodged in his eye lid causing a irritation and then pink eye set in. Love those Golden's!

you'll be chatting with the veterinarian and not the vet tech. while you're relatively worried, confer with the veterinarian and the vet can tackle your concerns - the stats. it may desire to reason renal failure yet perhaps that's in basic terms got here approximately in a small form of cats - so in practice - exceptionally unlikely that your cat would be affected or renal failure could desire to be led to from different problems besides. when you consider that your cat is an elder, renal failure is already a risk in some unspecified time interior the destiny or something else. To me, she remains youthful yet I basically lost a kitty that became 10 a million/2 years previous - maximum cancers. a chum of mine lost his cat as a results of renal failure at 10 years previous. It became surprising. some months previous, he gained a clean bill of well being - had his tooth wiped clean. regrettably, you may bypass by your vet. you'll be able to desire to examine with a community pharmacist yet those i've got worked with did not know too lots approximately veterinary drugs although they could. it form of feels to me that each and everyone drugs have their hazards, exceedingly in cats that are small. they choose an exceptionally small dose, often. My mom is a vet tech. She's on holiday now or i might ask her. are you able to call a vet basically outdoors your area and spot what they could inform you? that's what i decide to propose.
