Looking for a hairdryer to take with me travelling for a year so need it to be compact and lightweight, but also need it to be powerful with it,so i dont have to sepnd ages drying my hair. any ideas?

Walgreen's! I just got one there. Dual voltage, collapsible handle, very lightweight and lots of "blow". Revlon for $15. Hard to beat.

Buy a Braun folding traveller, the most powerful there is. You can also buy a travel adaptor plug set in any airport, so any small hairdryer will do.

Depends where you are going - I had the same problem and bought one in the USA, works great there much more powerful that the UK one I have.

www.magellans.com has a huge assortment of quality travel items, including lots of small hair dryers. The one I have works great and isn't very noisy, either.

Try Argos they have one around a Fiver and its good.
