Why do many churches believe that tithing siset at the end of the Old Testament?
Can someone show me in scripture where God said to stop your tithing?
It speaks of tithing in Mathews 23:23, while referring to something else.
God set a standard to tithe and most churches do not follow this standard, they donate with a big check with their name on it. They blow their own trumpet, how great they are but God will prophet you nothing. You obtained your reward but not from God. If you do not pay your tithes, God will get it out of you one way or the other. If you pay your tithes diligently, you be covered by God, when something comes up and need money.

Big Check is the size of a table 6' X 3'.
You tithe in secret and yes you sign the little check (3" X 8")

My church teaches this, but we do not "pass the plate" or pray over money.

Many people, Christians included, do not even know the Old
Testament teachings about tithing. So many say it was 10%. True, 'tithe' does mean 10%.............BUT, and this is a big BUT - the Israelites had to pay more than one tithe. If you check into it, do a study of it, you will find out that the entire tithe of the Israelites amounted to about 33% total of all their income and harvests. Check it out - don't take my word for it.

I dare say, dear one, that you know very little about tithing to the church. People tithe in many different ways. Most do not 'blow their own trumpet' they give quietly and meet the needs of the church. Sometimes it takes a 'big check' and their name has to be on it or it wouldn't be any good. It has nothing to do with 'how great they are' it has to do with tithing and obeying God. Many Christians make a lot of money and they tithe to the Lord. Sometimes that means a 'big' check! You sound very bitter - why is that? Could it be because you don't understand finances and how wealthy Christians help God's church? I suggest that you say a prayer of 'thanks' for those in the church that write those 'big' checks. Many a poor soul is fed and clothed by their sacrifice and love.

You should tithe at least 10% because of what the bible teaches if you can not then why. Is it because you really don't have the money or could you drop some luxuries like cable or internet bill to be able to make it. Its between you and God he knows its not up to man to decide the reason your not. If you go by the bible then you should and it helps the church do more in the community. and i know it is sad that some churches just sit on money and don't help anyone.

I have never heard of a church not teach about tithing! Sad to say..some churches focus on tithes and offerings a lot more than say actually keeping a relationship with God! How do you think a lot of those mega huge churches get built? Sad to say some churches bleed the money out of the poor people!

I do tithe but I don't think God wants other Christians to go around bullying people into tithing.

I think some churches that don't preach tithing are ones that are not based on the Bible. I write my tithes and offering check first. Its not my money, its God's.

I think most churches or preachers place too much emphasis on tithing to the point that they make you feel guilty if you don't tithe.

there are alot of churches who still do teach this. but unfortunately, there are so many people who believe that they cannot afford to tithe. my question is, can they afford not to? The dollar in the offering plate does not pay the electricity and water bills anymore.

We are in the last days. The time has come when men demand a preacher to say what he wants to hear rather than the Truth from the Word of God.
2Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

You use faulty logic to justify tithing.
Tithing was a point of law in the old covenant. It is not required in the new covenant. Those who insisted on teaching old covenant points of law were required by Paul to be cast out of the church (Gal. 4:22-5:1)
The issue in Mt. 23 is in relation to people under the old covenant.
