There are 3 that I know of. The BAR from Browning, The 7400 (or is it 7600) from Remington, and the M1 Garand. These 3 are reliable, accurate enough to put 3 round groups in a 2 inch circle at 100 yards, and the Browning and Remington are backed by great customer service.

The M I Garand, Is a good choice, Reload your own ammo, you will soon find a load that is good for you.
The 222 Savage is a good rifle for target practice or varmint rifle extremely accurate.
The AK 47 or Mak 90 is a extremely accurate and a fun semi-auto to fire.

A good hunting model 30-06 is the Browning BAR; for GP shooting and fun I like my Garand.

If you are going to shoot Targets or Long Range..A Springfield Armory M1A in 308 Caliber would be my first choice and suggestion.Followed closely by an M1 Garand...in 30-06 caliber

M1 Garands are accurate and reliable. They are a little expensive these days since Clinton destroyed them all. Remember, the rifle can be perfect but it doesn't matter unless you use good ammo. Surplus ammo can be found and is good for target practice but for hunting you need something better.
