And would there be a MILITARY connection to your question??

I doubt if there is any point on the planet when, you or anybody would ever see the so called tips of the moon either sticking up from the ocean or the landscape, the moon is never physically in the position to be viewed that way. so your story is a crock.

I have never heard that, but I can certainly imagine it being true, and for more than one early voyage. Consider the fact that it took folks an awfully long time to get through their heads that the earth wasn't flat!
