Fingernails are made of a special kind of protein called keratin, the same kind of stuff that a cow’s hoofs and horns are made of.
There are many different kinds of proteins. You need the protein of meat or milk or plant seeds in your diet. But don’t chew your fingernails. You can’t digest the keratin protein.

I'm positive that it is neither of those. It's a substance called Keratin, neither bone or hair. Who's idea was hair. But yeah, it's neither.

Fingernails are cartilage made up from living skin cells. ITs also called keratin. Fingernails are technicly bone....deff. not hair.
