Excellent choice! I would definitely go for a dull olive for the walls, but add a trim with a darker earthy hugh to match the wood floors. Leaving the ceiling light would definitely make the room look bigger and more lively. Also adding an antique mirror or two would open it up. Hint: I did interior design thru a company called "Evolution" in the bay area, ca. Look them up, if you like what you see then you'll take my advice :) Good luck!

Light Khaki for three walls and Olive Green for the fourth. Put a Moose Head on one wall, a Deer Head on the another wall, and a fully stuffed Bear standing in front of the huge picture window. The other wall should be reserved for the gun displays. Additionally, mounted game fish displayed on all walls as appropriate. Put a Polar Bear Rug in front of the Sofa. Nice oil lamps on the tables. I can see it now! And don't forget, the box of expensive cigars next to the smoking chair. If you lady's would like any other decorating hints, please feel free to email me direct.

Use the old decorator's trick. Buy some white paint, but add a tiny bit of your red ginger paint to it. The room will still get the brightness of having a white ceiling, but it won't have such a stark contrast. More of a 'glow' effect of your wall color on the ceiling.

You already have several strong colors in the room - I wouldn't add another.
1] paint three walls ivory or taupe.Make drapes the opposite color [ taupe with ivory walls; ivory with taupe walls ].
2] paint the fourth wall wine, olive, or chocolate
3] throw some olive and taupe pillows on the sofa and chairs
4] add some brass [ gold ] accessories in lamps, candle holders, ornaments. Repeat in picture frames.
5] repeat the wine, olive, and chocolate in vases, flowerpots,
ornaments, candles

i think a soft peach color
A textured look ...
light peach of flat paint ...
then use a disposable baby diaper to dab a darker more orangey peach semi-gloss over the top ....
this will give you a rich, light, and textured wall.
You could even have one wall a sandy brown just to add contrast... and to tie the room together.
Add lots of green plants to add life to the room.
