I am not...

added : And I get a thumbs down...lol
If figured I wouldn't preach, but I guess I am going to have to.
People defend their beliefs for two main reasons; They feel they are being attacked for their belief or that their beliefs are being attacked or because people want their point to be heard. When I said I am not I mean I have no problem in allowing you to believe what you want...Yes I can give you my two cents and personal stories and why I believe in Jesus, but yelling and screaming or fighting will not help you find Christ in me. You ask me any question and I will give you my honest answer. If it becomes a heated debate on who is right and who is wrong I will end it.

I think that when you've been brought up with a certain belief it's hard to admit that you might be wrong. God is so important to so many people, he's like a family member and I suppose some will take it personally if their views are criticised. Also it's a bit scary to think that this is it, the hereafter is a comforting thought and some like to think that we'll live on and that those who've died before us will be waiting for us in the next life..

Because despite the public posturing, the self-righteous promotion, religion is still a very private thing. Human beings have a lot of trouble in separating themselves from their private pursuits. Therefore, if someone is making a point about your religion or trashing it, you take it as a personal slight no matter how it was intended. Until people learn to separate themselves from their interests and things, you will have defensive people.

Peace,
Jenn

I'm not defensive, I love a good debate. But then, I'm not religious... just spiritual. I just Hate it when I run into people who are defensive, though. Personally, I think the people who are Defensive and not willing to go into a good debate, who just quote lines that are meaningless to those not in their faith... personally, I think those people are defensive because they are weak of will and spirit. Or weak of mind and insist on doing as they are told.

Pure religion is neither defensive nor offensive.
Pure grace neither makes sides nor takes sides.
The main reason is sides wars have side effects.
The second reason is it produces winner & loser.
Grace would never be a winner to make a loser;
Nor ever want to be right to make others wrong,
for by grace "we all are one", not them vs them.

As for Law vs Law sides wars, it's Loser vs Loser.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

If we don't defend it who will? We don't want people going to hell so we are showing love to them by warning them. We don't want people going to Hell through ignorance because we didn't tell them.

Rom. 10:14--How then shall then call unto them whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in them of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

I'm scared of religious people and what they might do. The whole situation is getting kind of creepy.

I try not to be defensive, I try to be informative. However, it would be nice if some people were not always attacking it.

Because when you believe in anything at all, your life has a purpose and you tend to fight for what you believe in. I guess you haven't experience that if you don't believe in anything.
