It really depends what the piercer uses to pierce your ear. If they use a gun, you'll feel a slight pinch for less than a second and then an almost unpainful burning sensation (it's hard to describe!). If they use a needle however, the piercing process will take longer and will probably hurt a little more, but not much. It's nothing to worry about at all, trust me :) I've had both lobes pierced three times :)

if you're just getting a second hole on your lobe (the bottom "normal" place one gets their ears pierced) it shouldnt hurt anymore than your 1st hole-or for some people not at all.
if you're getting a piercing higher up through your cartilidge expect some pain-again depends on person how much...for me it hurt more than getting my belly button done which barely pinched, but people are different....neways the pain goes away fairly quickly, but be careful how you sleep on new piercings in the ears-you dont want to get them caught on things (hair, pillow, etc)
as far as helping it not hurt...piercings arent really qualifying for numbing so you kinda just have to deal with it...sorry...
hope this helps and good luck!!!

Gun piercings generally hurt more than needle pierces & have a higher chance for infection. If I were you, I'd save up the extra cash and get it done professionally.

I got my 2nd piercing at claires. It hurt just a little bit more than it did when I got my 1st hole done. The 1st hole didn't hurt me at all though. I think it is because it is higher up in the cartilige. But I did get my 1st hole done at an expensive jewlary store...

I got my first , second, and third holes done at the same time. It just felt like they stapled my ear...over and over and over. So if six didnt hurt, im sure two wont either. If youre scared of the pain, you can have them do both ears at the Exact same time.

I got my 2nd piercing a while ago (it was on the bottom). it doesn't hurt anymore than the first. If you are getting one on your cartilage, then expect a little more pain then the first (on the bottom). Friends tell me than it is just a little pinch more than getting the first ones done. Good Luck!!!

it hurts less than a lip piercing, but more than the basic lobe piercing.
get the highest quality metal, double piercings get infected easily.
good luck!
