Hello! I just had an interview on Wednesday at a restaurant. The interview only lasted about 10 minutes and he told me that he wanted to schedule me for a second interview. But when he came back, the schedule was apparently "full" and the GM is out of town. I have sent out my thank you letter. Is this enough or is there anything else I need to do to score this second interview? Should I also call them after a week? I need your professional advice and opinion! Thank you!

Before you drive yourself crazy you may want to find out why he is away for a week, if he is on vacation then follow up with him politely in one week and one day to allow him to get back into the groove. No one appreciates being jumped on first thing when they return from vacation.

If it is a sudden thing he may be dealing with personal issues so give it an extra day.

After that you can try to reach him by dropping into the restaurant and politely stating how interested you are in the job and ask when the best time for a second interview will be.

That way, your not pushing him and showing that your not desperate. If you do it over the phone, it will appear like you don't have the time to bother to do it in person, so your probably not as interested as he thinks you are.

If you don't give him control of when the second interview is and you push too hard he may give you the interview but you won't like the results.

For all you know he may have received more applicants then he expected and he extended the time frame to interview them all.

Don't appear too desperate either, otherwise they will walk all over you and not give you all the benifits they would give you if don't.

The trick to an interview is not to let them see how much you need the job, but to let them see how much they need your talent and what you can do for them. Applicants are a dime a dozen you need to stand out to the manager as someone that can be reliable, responsible and help his business.

Good Luck!

He did say he wanted a second interview with you...that's good. The thank you letter was great! You can phone and so you don't sound pushy, you could state that you are following up and wondered if they were in need of any additional information. You will probably find out then if the position has been filled and you have maintained a professional attitude.

Good luck!

the 2nd interview itself would be such as the 1st in some respects: a verbal exchange with one or 2 interviewers, or with a panel. this is probable to selection from the 1st interior of here techniques: The interview would be greater heavily with regard to the artwork you will possibly do than the 1st - your interviewer would be a line supervisor. 2nd interviews for artwork of a technical nature would flow into technical questions in better intensity. you may properly be interviewed by using greater senior contributors of group: senior workers and/or line managers Your first interviewer could have left notes of any factors from that interview which pick following up, which incorporate obvious weaknesses or loss of understanding/motivation. think of roughly any factors of your first interview which you experience you may desire to have dealt with greater effective – those will just about actually arise returned! With some employers, the 2nd degree of the call technique will incorporate no longer something better than this interview; with, in step with danger, a excursion of the premises and a raffle to fulfill others. Many significant recruiters, regardless of the undeniable fact that, will use a 'decision centre' (additionally ordinary as an 'assessment centre). An interview is basically one area of a form centre, which will additionally contain psychometric checks, in-tray workouts, group discussions, group projects and guy or woman reflects. (this is particularly genuine while recruitment of graduates is happening). shop cool and good luck!

Absolutely, you should call. However, do not call more than two times. If you haven't received a call back after you have left two messages, the manager doesn't want to hire you but is too busy to call.

It is common courtesy for a manager to return your call, but it often doesn't happen.

a call might help and, unless you are rude, won't hurt. Make it brief, sum up your best qualification and say you are very interested in being hired for the job, Get your point across and don't waste their time.
