Get to know some of the people who show in your area. Talk to breeders, offer to apprentice under them. As a breeder, I'm always looking for young people who may be interested in working with one of my dogs.

If you're interested in a Samoyed or a Bernese Mtn Dog please email me.. I can probably hook you up with someone in your area. (Realize while they are GREAT dogs, generally speaking, the hunting dogs do better in the Jr's ring because there is more hands on handling).

As trite as it sounds... the youth are the future of the sport.

I would look for someone who is willing to allow you to house and show their finished (Champion) dog. Pick a breed that you're interested in, go to the shows and talk to people. You don't want to start in Juniors with an unruly pup. You are being judged on your skill and knowledge. Perhaps you can show the dog in regular breed classes as well. Good luck!

Depends on the breed you are looking for.
Visit some dog shows and speak with a breeder and ask if they have any puppies that they would let go to a junior handler.

First you have to get your junior number from the akc and then you will have to attend handling classes to learn how to present your dog.
Also you will have to learn how to groom the breed.
