I live in Pa. and I was told that the tax on two cartons of cigs was 5.18. Is this considered a sales tax or state tax. Are there any states that don't charge any tax at all on cigs. How much does a carton cost in the states that have no tax?

Taxes on cigs are federal (that means all the states charge).

It also means that Indian reservations don't.

There are no states without a tobacco tax. If PA's tobacco tax is only $5.18 on two cartons, it must be one of the lowest in the US.

Here in MO, you can buy tier-1 brands (Marlboro, etc.) for around $25.00 a carton, and off-brand generics for as little as $15.00 including all taxes. Over in OK, the Indian smoke shops sell their own brands (such as Seneca, produced by the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe) for as little as $8.00 per carton.

I plan on operating in NYC, assemble my fat pension, then pass to the south the position my money is going extra. i love NYC, yet i'd have offered a mansion in Texas for what I paid for the following in NYC. i imagine that each and every region regardless of the truth that, has their very personal experts and cons. I actually trust that the south aspects a more suitable ideal time-honored of living for far less money than the Northeast.

Every state has a tax. North Carolina's is the lowest. If you buy on line, your state tax agency will eventually be sending you a bill for instate excise and sales taxes.
