About a week ago i bought home a australian shepherd puppy...

well the problem is, is that awhile ago my moms ragdoll cat got fleas from wondering outside and he brought them into the house and has been there ever since. now my puppy has them and she is only 9 weeks old.

We are moving in about 2 weeks and i dont want ANY fleas getting to the new house.

What can i do with the puppy? Since she is only 9 weeks old i dont know what i can do to kill the fleas before we get to the new house and keep them off.

same with the cat since hes coming too and i think he has some fleas as well.

---And do fleas live in furniture?

get flea dip for puppies and treat the animal. you will have to treat the cat ,too, with a flea dip for cats.
fleas can hang out anywhere so you are going to have to spray the house as well best one i think is the raid inverted flea carpet spray it is a purple can.
fleas can live in beds ,furniture and anywhere else since they are pretty mobile with their jumping.....
you need to do a lot of preventative maintenance....
spray the yard treat the animal once a month with stuff like frontline or k-9 advantix which works really well...
i have a dog and she is an inside/outside dog i spray the yard once a month and use frontline once a month sofar we had no fleas at all and our weather here is very suitable for fleas. since it doesn't get cold.

Yes, fleas live soft furniture and carpets, so you need to spray your house. If so spray your new house right away you should be able to prevent it becoming flea-infested.

The most important thing is to treat your pets of course, then they won't be bringing the fleas with them

You need to get some proper flea treatment from a vets. Their spot-ons like Frontline, Advantage and Revolution can be used on dogs and cats from 8 weeks of age. Frontline spray can be used from 2 days of age.

You should treat your animals regularly - they don't have to go outside to get fleas. Stay away from pet shop stuff, they are not proper treatments which is why they warn not to use on animals under 12 weeks of age.

Through the years I have found Advantage being the only flea product that actually works. You treat the pet, and you dont have to worry about the house. Any fleas that hatch, will jump on the dog or cat, and fleas will die.
I have been treating my dogs and cat with Advantage for 5 years and I have no flea problems.
You can get the Advantage on Ebay cheaper than the vet.

Give her a flea bath. Get some good flea shampoo specifically for dogs. You may need to give her a few baths. You may see LOTS and lots of fleas coming off her in the bath. It's really sad and a little shocking to see how many fleas are really on her, but just give her a bath everyday until you move and they should be gone by then. Also, you may want to get a flea collar for her, just in case!

Yes fleas can live in furniture, bedding, carpet and on your pets.....I would suggest giving both the cat and dog a flea bath before bringing them into the new house.....and using a flea and tick collar.

Fleas can get transportation by ANYTHING. Bomb your house with a flea bomb. Or you can buy frontline from a petstore or a vet. Frontline will work great. It will get rid of the fleas in 1 hour and you won't see 1 flea on your pets. It lasts for one month and then, you get another drop and put it on your pets. It works great. Ask for some at a petstore or from a vet. Good luck!

Give her a good bath, with mild dog or baby shampoo, buy some Canine Advantage form the pet shop. We use Advantage on our cats and it works great. Its expensive, but so worht it. Animals aren't cheap! Fleas can live in sofas, mattresses, etc. Some 1 bleach:10 water solution solution in a spray bottle should keep them clean. Or maybe lysol spray?? any other suggestions?

You wouldn't believe where fleas can live! They can live in cracks in wooden flooring, in your furniture, bed, carpet it is a biggy!

To get rid of them on your puppy just giving it a regular bath, outside your home that she lives in, they make "Hartz" 3 in spray for cats you can spray on them so you won't have to bathe it. Also there is carpet flea killer you can sprinkle on the carpet and spray you can buy I think it is "Rade" it is in a purple can, to spray on the furniture.

I had my battle with fleas this year allready, thank god for the colder weather coming!
