You're too emotionally 'vested' in the interaction. You know you'll be devastated if she is not nice, and it scares you. This is perfectly normal. The answer is surprisingly simple. Do NOT care if she is receptive or not. Frankly, it is more her problem if she blows you off than yours. She can't really reject YOU, unless she knows you first. After all, you're not asking her to have your children or verify your manhood, you're just talking.

Secondly, develop a personality where you talk to women, whether you are at all interested in them or not. This helps you with the skills needed, while not caring how it comes out will help your confidence. Good luck.
