My doctor perscribed me to an antabiotic and i still have a couple days to drink it.

my lips still a little swollen and the cold sores is still kinda there.

what can i do to make it heal faster?

ALSO: is it ok for me to take a shower..or will the vapor and moisture only make it go downhill..??

thanks for your help!

My friend asked me the same thing! Umm I dont think vapor will do anything and plus would you rather smell bad and sweaty and still have a cold sore or smell clean and MAYBE have a worse or the same sized cold sore? To make it heal faster: dont mess with it, and DONT LICK YOUR LIPS! Saliva (spit) will make it worse! Put this cream thing on you lip( it should be what your doctor perscribed you) if you have any more questions well ask around.
P.S. My friend took my advice and her cold sore went away at normal pace. (1-4 weeks)(maybe even less!)

Cold sores are a very common illness caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). Treatment is aciclovir 5 per cent cream (eg Zovirax cold sore cream), applied to the cold sore five times a day for five days. This can be bought over-the-counter from a pharmacy or obtained on prescription. The treatment should be started as soon as the first symptoms appear. It can often reduce the length of the outbreak and the infectious period. Recurrent severe attacks can be treated by anti-HSV agents in pill form. Showering, bathing etc, do not provoke any worsening of the symptoms.

There is a product in the drugstore that will help cold sores heal quickly, when you go into the store, ask them and let them show you. It might be good to have on hand so that you can fight future outbreaks. Aloe vera gel is a good thing to keep in your house for all kinds of skin situations (the kind you buy at a health food store). Just put a dab on any skin disruption and it will heal immediately.

Get some Abreva ,its sold over the counter in most drug stores, It will heal up in about a day for cold sores. It cost around 10.00 but well worth it. Taken a shower will not affect it one way or another. Good luck

Taking a shower will be fine- go to the drug store and buy some Abreva and it will heal a lot faster than with just the antibiotic. Don't pick at it at all.

Shower is fine!! Leave the cold sore alone - don't touch it at all. The virus can get under your nails and be transferred. Nothing to move it faster - sorry!
