Kids in Newcastle are getting help in collecting conkers from chestnut trees.

Never heard of a conker; ask him. Never hurts to throw a compliment or two though! Don't let your dad pressure you. You'll find a nice girlfriend on your own schedule.

well, a conker is a horse chestnut ... and a game of conkers is a children's game (see the internet on this for more info....) ....I think he means you should at least be looking around, with an eye to making yourself accustomed to sizing up girls, so you won't be taken by surprise .... and a man must make a good choice, so it is not bad advice, do you think?

In the game conkers, you are banging two nuts together until you bust one.
Throwing conkers at people is throwing nuts. Maybe your father is suggesting that you throw nuts at girls to get their attention.

Means he is thinking your afraid of girls and will never get married and have a life. Or else he is afraid your gay and wants reassurance your straight.
Start flirting with girls and at least trying to get a relationship going. I am assumeing your a male?
However, don't listen to him and get a good education and a job and move out then date. The less your parents are involved in your personal life the better for you.
You have plenty of time for that later. A good job and money are very sexy. Women want money.
Some dude without a job might as well have measles or Aids.
He is never going to get a girl.

i think that means you should be at least "looking" for a girl. If you're gay, then tell your dad now. If not, and you're just shy, well then you need to work on that. If it's because you're overweight, go to the gym. If not and you just need a makeover, get one. You'll be alot happier with yourself and you'll have more confidence. Good luck!
