Neighbor's dog lost a lot of weight over the past several months and has large dry patches of skin that looks rough like the cracked desert ground, but it's dark colored. He has been on meds for worms, but could something else be wrong?

most def. mange! it can be very serious if not treated. he needs to take the dog to the vet. & tested for what kind. there are 2 diff. types. he has to know what one it is to treat propely.

Yes, it could be mange but it could also be a bunch of other stuff. You could be risking your pet's life by taking advice from someone here.We on here are not trained to diagnose animal illnesses. Your dog's problem sounds serious and I really urge you to take it to a vet before it's too late.
