All immigrants need to adopt the language of the USA, namely English. American culture must not be replaced with Mexican culture. All countries are stronger by having a common language. India, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland had no choice in having more than one official language because they were founded by both than one people. The USA was initially settled by English, Spanish and French settlers. However soon the English speaking population assimilated the Spanish and French speaking population. There is no good reason to go down that road again. Having more than one official language is costly and should be avoided.

Well since English isn't the official FIRST language yet, it is doubtful we would declare Spanish a 2nd official one. Some people seem to think that declaring an official language is racist, despite the fact that all other countries have declared one (or more.. such as Switzerland).

But it already is the unofficial 2nd language, because it is the most frequent NON-English language in the US. Visits to Los Angeles, El Paso, or Miami will tell you if you don't speak Spanish, you miss a great deal of culture.

According to United States of America Constitution, the citizen are FREE to speak any language they want. Neither english nor any other is official languange in USA. So, spanish can not become second official language in USA because they don't have official language.
Por lo tanto, en los Estados Unidos, puedes utilizar el idioma de tu preferencia, así como la religión que quieras. Only in Yahoo! you must use only one language.
But the true is that spanish is the second language in USA acording to the amount of speakers (15% of total population in USA is spanish speaking)

I don't think so. Its use is largely confined to one segment of the population and the other groups generally don't know it at all. I think if trends continue as they are going right now, this country will be split into two cultures and two languages and as the old saying goes, the twain shall never meet.

If our globalist politicians who are pushing the North American Union, it will. Fortunately, Americans are beginning to realize that the illegal alien problem is being orchestrated from Washington, DC. We have an administration that refuses to enforce the immigration laws passed by Congress. In short, our federal government refuses to protect the American people from invasion. If this is not dereliction of duty, I don't know what is.
